I'm not hip to all of the basics of musical theater so tonight I'm going to pull an all-nighter and watch things I need to catch me up on everything. so heres The plan.'The King and I'My Fair Lady' 'Fiddler On The Roof' 'The Producers' 'Guys And Dolls'Funny Girl'(I've seen the last two before I just like it). I'm ashamed to say I haven't seen any of the first few so I'm making myself watch them. Is there anything I'm missing?

I have NEVER met Cheyenne Jackson. I have never hung out with him in his dressing room, he did not tweet me, he never bought me a beverage, and he mostly certainly didn't tickle me. . .that is all.

I have no idea what you have seen but I bet you've got a lot of catching up to do.
The films you've chosen are a good start.
There are tons more important musicals to see.
Good News, Meet Me in St Louis, Girl Crazy, Easter Parade (well every Judy Garland movie), The Sound of Music, Mary Poppins, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, Damn Yankees, Sweet Charity, Kiss Me Kate, Oklahoma, Show Boat. That's a small list.

The Producers is a straight film. The movie musical comes out in December.

Make sure you see the following, in order, if you haven't seen them:

Moulin Rouge
Mary Poppins
Funny Lady (sequel to Funny Girl)
Oliver
The Music Man
Sound of Music
Annie
Chitty Chitty Bang Bang

"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."
