I just received an email that my July 22nd performance has been canceled.

A show likely to earn multiple awards isn't closing because one performance got cancelled. This is far more likely to be part of the shift to a 7-performance weekly schedule. Telecharge is still selling the rest of the run and I booked an August ticket yesterday.

Also have tickets for July 22nd and didn’t get a cancellation email.

You didnt say what time your performance is for but they are only doing a matinee @ 1:00PM but it has been that way for awhile now.

Looks like third-party ticket sellers did sell tickets for a July 22, 2026 7pm performance though Tele-Charge never did.

Thanks for the replies. I actually bought my ticket through Telecharge for 7:00 back in April. Now I’ve got to decide between Lost Boys, The Rocky Horror Show or Schmigadoon as a replacement. Catching Linda Eder the night before, Cats matinee on the 22nd and Les Miserables on the 23rd.

It looks like Death of a Salesman is moving to an alternate week schedule. One week: They skip Tuesdays and have two performances on Wednesdays. The next week: They have a Tuesday evening performance but just a Wednesday matinee.
That seems consistent with the move to a 7-performance-a-week schedule, which they had last week.

Go with Schmigadoon, It will win the TONY for Best Musical!

I am sorry this happened to you. Here is my suggestion, if it is workable: I think Death of a Salesman is a terrific production, probably the best I have seen in years, and one I am sorry you would miss, especially because you wanted to see it. The only downside now is that prices are a lot higher and it will only get worse if it wins a bunch of Tonys.
I think you should explore the possibility of seeing Death of a Salesman for the Wednesday matinee and switching Cats: The Jellice Ball to Wednesday night. The latter looks easy to do, and I assume the Telecharge folks could do that easily. I also think that revival, which I saw, is more fun at night.
Death of a Salesman might be more difficult and prices have gone up a fair amount since I saw it in March. So you might have to pay more even if this switch isn’t your fault. I don’t know if they just canceled your tickets or if you can apply some of what you paid to matinee tickets.
It’s just a thought. I have not seen any of the other shows you have listed so have no suggestions there. I just hate the idea of you missing a truly memorable production through no fault of your own.

Can the title of this thread be changed? Because it’s just dumb to ask if a show is closing after cancelling a show.

Bear882, thanks for the suggestion, I was able to switch out the shows and am excited to see them both. I also updated the Subject Line. I was frustrated with the email regarding the cancellation and should have done some digging before I posted. I live in MN and am only able to travel to NYC once or twice a year and spend way too much time weighing the pros and cons of each show before nailing down the list for a three nite stay.

Bruceinmn,
I am very glad to hear you are able to see the shows you wanted to see. Like you, I debate what to see on trips to NYC from, in my case, California, so I can relate. I have found that people here can be very kind in sharing their knowledge and helpful suggestions - so I am happy to do it for someone else.
Death of a Salesman and Cats: The Jellicle Ball were highlights of my last trip to New York City, so I’m pleased you are able to see both.
