Help!! I just got this great offer to have a role in my favorite musical in the whole world. I have been wanting this all of my life. It's like my dream. If I show up for an audition, I will automatically get a part! The only problem is that my family is going on vacation to the ocean during one week of rehearsal. I know if don't show up for rehearsals, I can't be in the musical. I could stay home from my family vacation and be in the musical, but I would be letting a lot of my family members down or I could just give up my dream and go on vacation and forget about it, but I really wanted this. Please help me out.

TAKE IT!! You will regret it if you don't!
What musical?
This made sound kind of dorky, but the role is little orphan Annie. I fell in love with the musical when I saw it on Broadway when I was five. My cousins and I used to pretend we were orphans and we'd sing hard knock life all the time. Actually, seeing Annie is what got me interested in acting. The summer after I saw it on Broadway, I begged my mom to let me go to the theater camp at our local theater. I've been acting ever since. I always wnted to be in the musical. Now, Finally, it's at our theater and I don't know if I can go.

Musical. No question. But I also HATE the beach. It's like, "Great. Hot, sandy, salty: my three favorite things after those witches from Macbeth."
Musical, musical, musical. It sounds like the show has made a huge impact in your life, do NOT give up the chance to be a part of it!
Do the musical!! Your family will understand.
By the way, how old are you? I'd love to play Annie too, but I'm 16 which is too old.

I honestly think questions like this are dumb.
I know you don't want to let your family down, but do what you would most like to be doing. If you're even having to make this decision, it means that it's pretty much okay with your fam. I'm sure they'll be supportive.
Take the role. There'll be plenty more family vacations. Your dream is being handed to you, don't shove it away.

haha i'm in the same boat except for I chose the Beach because it's probably the last year i'll be able to go with my family because i'm going to college and will be working and stuff in future summers and plus the shows i could have done were awful (FAME, SUESSICAL) maybe not awful for you but i can't stand them...anyways I chose the beach but it definitley seems like u should do the musical and there were several summers i stayed home to do do shows and i don't regret that one bit.
btw: Ashley0139! this is the firs time ever on this board that I have read a post of yours and not agreed 100%
haha i'm a huge beach guy but i know that many people just don't like heat and it usually depends for me but this year for some reason i really want to go and i live in WI where it's always FREEZING so maybe thats it??

totally do the musical b//c u will probably be too old to ever do annie again and since u are tht young u will have many more vacations to go on
The beach will always be there.....
Take the role. I understand you're torn....maybe do somethinng really nice for your family right after the show. I'm sure they'll understand. Have fun!!!
I'm 14, but I'm only 4'2" so I still look like a little kid.
You can't be in the show if you miss one week of rehearsal?
Even though you notified them of the conflict before the auditions??
What kind of NAZI show is this!?!?

Definitly do the musical! I was in a production of Annie when I was in seventh grade, it was so much fun! I'm sure you're family will understand, I know it's tough in the summer, it's the same thing with me. I am auditioning for Fiddler On The Roof and my aunt and uncle are coming out here from Arizona before they go to Japan, and I won't get to see them unless I go to my grandma's Long Island with my family (I live in Syracuse, NY) and I'll probably have to miss a few rehearsals...I don't know what I'm doing about that yet. Summer is kind of hard to get everything into. You have family, and rehearsals, and for some people, classes. It's tough.
GO WITH THE MUSICAL! its your favorite part!
AGAIN.... why do you have to choose one or the other!? That's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard!
MUSICAL
take every chance you get to do theatre, especially if it's your dream role. I think your parents would understand if you had to miss swimming and getting a sunburn for playing the role of a life tiiiime..or your role of a life time!!!! good luck!
choose wisely :)
I think you should do the musical. If this was your dream for like EVER then you shouldn't let one vacation get in your way. If you go on the vacation you'll totally regret it.
WHY, oh WHY do you HAVE to CHOOSE!?!
.... and if Annie is your role of a lifetime, then... well.... wow.

You can always go to the beach. DO the musical, what kind of a question is that anyway?
