OMG! you all have such amazing tastes in music, maybe it's a theatre thing? you all make me so happy inside, one for posting, and two for suggesting things i've never heard of, maybe i'll find something new i like.
i'm kinda partial to Barenaked Ladies "If I Had a Million Dollars". I love Harry and the Potters and Draco and the Malfoys (I saw them in a concert out here). I like listening to old records, call me crazy, i was up to 4 in the morning doing it a few days ago, i started at 8 the night before. I also like Queen and Simon & Garfunkel. Also Paul Simon's solo stuff. and anything from 50's to late 80's i will listen to.
I do despise Coldplay, but i don't condemn people for their music. people do that for some weird reason.
Much love

Corinne Bailey Rae - She's soulful, elegant, and playful at the same time. Really fantastic new artist.
Natalie Imbruglia - Gets the respect she deserves in the UK, but her last album wasn't even released in the USA. So sad. She's my favorite.
Anna Nalick- Her album is just lovely, and a bit edgier than you'd expect.
Audra McDonald - Love her cover of "My Stupid Mouth".

And ~FF~, Natalie Imbruglia might get respect in the UK, but she is Australian, and extremely popular...
Stupid Brits, always stealing our talent...grrrrrr!
But apart from that side note, there is no such thing as good music outside of theatre!

Posted: 1/9/07 at 10:17amSince I moved to NYC 3 years ago and stopped driving (and therefore stopped listening to the radio), I've heard almost no new artists. I mostly listen to Madonna, No Doubt, Kelly Clarkson, Hole, Nirvana, Ani DiFranco, and the Beatles. At least those are the artists that come up most often when I have my iPod on shuffle.

Coldplay, Natasha Bedingdfeild, Gavin Creel, Cyndi Laurper, Renee Goldsberry, Kelly Clarkson, Janet Jackson (Nothing after The Velvet Rope), Danity Kane, John Mayer, Vannessa Carlton, Keane, Jack Johnson, Heather Headley, Michael Buble, Wham!, Joss Stone, PCD, Harry Connick, Jr, Jesse McCartney, Jason Mraz.
Okay, I think that's enough now.

Well Wardrobe, If you like The Culture Club....then you'll probably like Wham! and just George Michael by himself. Maybe even Morrissey, whom I love. & also The Smiths. Then there's Depeche Mode, David Bowie, Queen, Billy Idol, The Cure, Duran Duran, Oingo Boingo, Pet Shop Boys, The Police, The Rolling Stones, Tears For Fears, The Beatles, then there's Oasis, Moving Units, The Bravery, The Killers, Interpol, Gym Class Heroes, U2, Lily Allen, KT Tunstall, The Kaiser Chiefs, Jamie Cullum, Garbage, The Verve, Franz Ferdinand, The Chemical Brothers, Boy Kill Boy, The Presets, Death Cab For Cutie, The Strokes, Beck, and The Arctic Monkeys--which I have to say they are an exception b/c I'm not big on those new little "boy bands" who are oh so teenage popular. I'm an 80's nut, also love the 70's and 90's. I could seriously name many more. And the thing is that not just any voice is ok, it has to be a very special voice for me to really love the music, and the lyrics of course! As you can see, that's why I love all these bands and singers...b/c they are different, not normal sounding, which is boring! Hope this helped!

Posted: 1/11/07 at 2:44pmI personally recommand Regina Spektor. She is so unique and I find her so refreshing after being bombarded with such "popular" music on the radio all the time.
