I had an acquaintance who wasn't even a performer do that to me a few years ago. Insecure people can go to some great lengths to try to prove their own popularity.

You guys are hilarious! And hey, maybe I should become ENTREPRENEURIAL about all this. Maybe I should hire myself out to play an "obsessed fan" on demand, and come to any of your shows in NYC. What the hell, if I'm going to be CALLED an "obsessed fan" anyway, I may as well turn a profit from it! Comp me in and pay me $25 bucks a show, $50 if it's on Broadway, and I'll play-act that I'm stalking any of you, any time!

Doodlenyc, as far as I'm concerned, anyone who is inviting me to see her shows on the one hand, then telling her friends I'm an "obsessed fan" once I show up, is definitely a pathetic individual. It was one of her best friends who finally blew the whistle on her and told me what the whole group had been saying for years. She definitely participated in it. And if I sound judgemental, well, she judged me FIRST: as someone she could lie about with impunity.

I still think it's a little extreme that you heard this secondhand and haven't even talked to your friend, instead deciding that a bunch of crazy rantings on a message board were more appropriate.

cool beans...sorry, I just didnt see anywhere that this was actually true or that it couldnt possibly be someone spreading a rumor.

I hope that if a friend of mine heard something like this about me, they'd confront me before jumping to any conclusions.
