My College is Shut Down Due to Threat

Someone called the Broward Community College/Florida Atlantic University and said that something similar to the VT would happen. Everyone thinks it was a guy who didn't want to take the finals.

Broward Community College closed during final exams Friday because of the discovery of a threatening note.

According to police, BCC President Willis Holcombe decided to cease operations about 10 a.m. as a precautionary measure.

"(Thursday) night, the Hollywood Police Department received information that a note was taped to the back of a sign saying, 'If you saw (what) happen at Virginia Tech, wait until you see what happens at BCC,'" Davie police Lt. Bill Bamford said. "The Hollywood Police Department notified us immediately, (Friday) morning that information was conveyed to administrators at (Florida Atlantic University) and BCC, and it was at that time, in an abundance of caution, they decided to evacuate the campus and make sure the students and faculty were safe."

Bamford said the note was found taped to the back of a sign at a construction site. He said Hollywood police were questioning a person who might have written the note.

Students and faculty from all eight BCC campuses were dismissed. FAU's campuses it shares with BCC in Fort Lauderdale and Davie were also evacuated.

A statement from the FAU said that the campuses in Fort Lauderdale and Davie were closed and evacuated this morning in response to a written threat directed toward Broward Community College (BCC).

"There were no threats specifically directed toward FAU, nor was there a security breach of any sort on any campus. FAU chose to close the campuses it shares with BCC solely as a security precaution.

Administrators said to visit BCC's Web site to determine whether classes would be in session Saturday and when makeup classes would be held.

Administrators at FAU said updates on its classes would be posted here.

I go to Downtown and Central Campuses.
Next semester I will be taking classes at the North Campus as well. What about you SweetQ?
