Hey guys,
Just thought I would take a moment to share the great news that my play, "Falling Away" has won first place in the Writer's Digest Annual Writing Competition. Besides getting to go to NYC to meet with (the vaguely titled) producers, I also get a thousand dollar stipend for winning the award, and get a selection from the play published in an upcoming issue!
Congratulations!

Congrats!!!
My advice to you is to shop it around to some of the regional theaters. Send a synopsis and a couple of pages of dialogue to the artistic directors or dramaturgs of theaters like Steppenwolf, Trinity Rep and Actors Theatre of Louisville. If you can get a regional production, that could help you along.

Congrats, although I am a little disappointed.
When I saw the thread title I thought for sure that Cruel_Sandwich started this thread and as a result I can't use the snarky responses.
Oh well, I'll go look for a Capn Hook thread, that'll make everything better.
Seriously, congrats.
fantastic!
This is Wonderful...Good Luck on the Playwriting career...
Congrats!

I'm proud of you, even though I don't know you! That's so awesome. From one playwright to the next, I'd love to read the script. It'd be nice to compare my work to your award winning work.

Sue - of COURSE it's not Austin - this person actually followed through on their idea and creation. And congrats on that, by the way!
But, in the guise of 'Biff', Austin can't help but show up and offer a post.
Too bad the 'juju' doesn't rub off, huh, Austin?
Excuse me, Q/DG? I've written about a dozen short screenplays, and one was actually produced. GO FIGURE! So, while I haven't been able to finish any plays (most turn into screenplays), I have finished something. (Sadly, my screenplay was better than the produced movie - the director butchered it.)
Anyway, I still want to read the winning play. Please PM me.
What wonderful news. Congratulations!
It's also really inspiring. I set aside my work on a new play a few years back. Please keep up the good work. I for one am always pleased to learn of "new work" out there, especially straight plays. Revivals are just not my thing these days.
I need some advice from you guys.
I am contemplating entering this in the Eugene O'Neill playwrights competition for a workshop, and was wondering if anyone has experience with the program and knows the quality therein.
Thanks in advance.
