Get Over It.
A nice article, but don't read the comments.

Posted: 9/8/13 at 6:18pmWhen I was very very young all I wanted for Christmas was a baby doll. This was the mid sixties in an area where a boy wanting something a girl would want was unheard of and would never even be discussed. Well I think back to that day and lovingly remember how my parents gave me not only a baby doll but also a bassinet, several changes of clothing, bottles for feeding my baby, a stroller, and even a high chair. How cool was that?

This reminds me of a couple personal stories of my own. I also have a father who is very accepting of me being gay. I am VERY blessed to have a father like the one I do...
Someone at his work asked where he was on vacation. My dad told him that he was in NYC where he saw Phantom of the Opera and his son (me) saw six shows. The man replied, "Wow what is he...? GAY?" My dad looked at him and said, "Yes, he is." The idiot then said, "Good joke." To which my dad said, "I am NOT joking. I am serious." The man still didn't get it and said, "You're pulling my chain..." My dad then said, "Do you really need help shoving that shoe any further into your mouth? I am not joking. You really need to watch what you say because comments like that are not called for anywhere."
One of his coworkers was making comments about how being gay is a choice. My dad asked the guy, "so if it's a choice, you are saying you yourself can decide to be gay if you want to?" The guy then got flustered and was all, "well no but it's definitely a choice." My dad that said, "I have known my son was gay since he brought home the pink tutus and barbies home from preschool when he was three, and I couldn't be prouder! You're obviously BORN that way, because a three year old doesn't even know what gay IS."

^ Exactly. I hate that loving live theatre is automatically associated with being gay. And yes, I am VERY lucky to have such a wonderful and supportive father

My dad is amazing too, when I came out he welcomed my boyfriend (now my Civil Partner who I have been with for 21 years) into the family.
My dad is a wonderful human being who makes this world a better place.
