Posted: 9/18/13 at 3:31pmMy Mom used to mix candy (not starburst fruit flavored kind) and salted peanuts and put it out this time of year. I was never crazy about it but now even the sight of it makes me think of her and I start to cry.

Oh totally. She wasn't much of a cook and this is about the only "holiday" thing I can recall her doing. I guess it shows that even little, simple things can help you live on in memory.

How weird because I always listen to the soundtrack of Far From Heaven in the fall. I think I imagine myself driving around in this picturesque scene from the movie.

Someone on the subway this morning made me think of that film--some color combination, I think.
I haven't seen it in a while; I need to watch again.

My favorite thing about this time of the year is organizing Halloween parties and of course designing/looking for costumes.
I also love the food network and HGTV Halloween specials.

Posted: 9/19/13 at 2:39amA good double feature is FAR FROM HEAVEN and ALL THAT HEAVEN ALLOWS. Agnes Moorehead was great in that film.

Reg--I loved that you watched it last night! It's on my "to watch" list this weekend.
And romantico, I agree about the double feature. Especially if you watch them in reverse. You can enjoy Far From Heaven, then see where 90 percent of its inspiration came from.

I love autumn, but hate that I'm already seeing Christmas ads on television. There should be a law about that. It's disturbing to me.
