I hope all of you can one day break the cycle and the behavior pattern... and that you can see it for what it is.
I do think some of it comes from unrealistic expectations in a partner. The "romance" of it all. You see them for what you WANT them to be... not for what they ARE.
A lot of those abusive signs show up early on. Very few people "suddenly become monsters." The seeds of their abusive personality and their bad behaviors can be spotted with a keen eye, and should be taken very seriously early on... before the heart takes over... and it's too late.
