I'm putting together a book, of DC pictures, because we're moving and I want to capture the city on film before we leave... this weekend i took a few photos while we were downtown... i never knew that the sun set behind the lincoln memorial... we were walking by and it was amazing to see in person. it was also amazingly HARD to capture on camera.
i'm going to be shooting for the next couple of months... everything i can... so i'll have lots more to share for a while...

Posted: 2/10/08 at 7:13pmMy favorite view of DC is driving on GW Parkway at night and looking across the river to see the Lincoln Memorial, Jefferson Memorial and Washington Monument all at once. I'm going downtown tomorrow for the first time in months; I can't wait.
Wanting life but never knowing how

Posted: 2/11/08 at 3:21pmGreat pictures, Pab! You have really done DC justice. I can't tell you how many times I've been out running on the mall and wished I had a camera to catch either the sunsets at the Lincoln or the sunrises over the Capitol. It is clear you have a great camera, but also a great eye!

CubanPab, you're quite the shutterbug bro. Thanks for sharin'. This city really does possess some intrinsic beauty despite the ugly politics and the occasional inner city eyesore.
btw, I work in DC but live in a MD suburb.

Posted: 2/12/08 at 9:15amI've lived in Northern Virginia for almost 50 years and I LOVE going to DC whenever I can. I went to high school in DC and I worked for the Smithsonian there for about 10 years. I had to change jobs a couple of years ago and now I work in Virginia and I really miss going there now. It really is a very beautiful city with TONS of places to see - and most of them are free. opiv - get yourself a Metro SmarTrip card and get yourself around to all the sites. Right now is the perfect time for locals to go (almost all the tourists are gone!).
A click for life.
