The time is NOW!
Do not miss this source of natural wonder in Central Park, cherry trees ringing the Reservoir in a flurry of frivolous pink fluff!
it would be beautiful here in Kentucky if it weren't so rainy and dreary here today. When the sun is out it is stunningly beautiful.

It has chilled down to 47 degrees today in the city. The cool would let the blooms last longer. Yet a blowsy wind and rain could knock them down; downed blossoms in the mud.
Let us hope the blooms survive and the weather is not too harsh and the sun comes out...
MIne are blooming on the tree in front of my house, too. We've had a pretty bad rain storm today...actually we're having a nasty, wet weekend with similar temps, but the blooms seem to be holding on! Hope it's the same in NYC!

Our cherry are utterly drenched!
Can they possibly survive all this rain without fading, blowing off or rotting?
April showers on our flowers!

I went to visit the pink double blossom cherries today to check on their condition and was amazed that so far--
they are clinging valiantly to the trees!
Hardly a noble bloom is to be found upon the ground, though there are many puddles.
The westerly side of the trees on the slope has turned into something of a pond which some of the trees overhang, and there were several nodescript birdies there munching up dislocated worms and other displaced creepy crawlies.
The skies cleared and became sunny this afternoon, yet more cloudy weather lies ahead.
Our cherries are not out of danger yet...

It turned into a beautiful afternoon! Spring is still here!
Nom-do you go to BBG? (Brooklyn Botannic Garden) for their cherry blossoms? Spectacular!

Jane2, I have been to BBG once, lovely.
Liked the incredible Chinese art in the Brooklyn Museum there as well. I've seen a lot of Asian art, but their collection is stunning. Egyptian, too.
I haven't been up to the big Botannical garden in the Bronx, though, and would like to. I have seen the Zoo beside it.
Incidentally, the double ruffle pink cherry blossoms on these trees in Central Park are more lovely than the ones in my icon. The icon is more in points but the Central Park pink cherries by the Reservoir are true ruffles on each bloom and being underneath whole trees puffed with them takes your breath away.
Where in the park are these?

The pink double ruffle cherry trees of which I rave ring the Reservoir which is located in the center of Central Park.
However, on the West Side of the Reservoir, there are a lot of them for a long stretch which form an arbor walkway with a path in their midst such that you can walk beneath their elegantly arching overhead branches...
thanks, I'll try to see them before it's over.

Wild roses, memories of the New England seashore in summer.
At the middle of the foot of Central Park you can find white wild rosebushes in bloom.
A heavenly rose scent, soft fragile petals...

Toward the south side and middle of Shakespeare's Garden (which is in the middle between the Swedish Marionette Cottage, Belvedere Castle and the Delacorte Theater) you can find pink wild rosebushes in bloom. There are other colonial-style older small white rosebushess all around the garden as well, though they lack the sweet scent of the wild ones...

I tried, but couldn't get the right shot of the reservoir Cherry's today...
I'll try again tomorrow...eeek. Before they're gone. *sigh*
