I went to a restaurant on 9th Avenue called something like Pietrasanta. It was Italian, very quaint, and reasonable. The bartender at the Sheraton NY recommended it and it was good. It's on a corner and has a red awning. We stayed on 53rd and 7th and had no problems with the subway. We caught it near the hotel and either got off on 42nd or 34th. Everyone on the streets was so helpful and the attendants in the subway never hesitated to answer our questions. I LOVE the people of New York- very friendly and helpful! Enjoy our trip! mom
Everything's a zoo from 6-8 anywhere in the theatre district. My advice would be to avoid the area and find suggestions for a place futher down or uptown, then head into the area come showtime.
To get there from Penn, you can take the A C E to 42nd st. follow the signs to the exit exit at 44th st and walk three blocks uptown. I do this daily, I work across the street from the Brooks Atkinson The A will NOT stop at 50th, so if you want to stop right at 50th, you can only take the C or E.
have fun!!
Excellent idea. beyonddizzy!
My first choice is EL QUIJOTE in the infamous Chelsea Hotel. SPANISH seafood, Lobster 3 course dinners, a specialty! In a fabulous atmoshpere, and extremely great prices! A really good NY institution. open on Christmas- we go every year, (cause wer'e Jewish!?). Love the professional waiters, the cool bar, decor and Xmas decorations.
23 Street near 7th Avenue.
Take a cab or bus UP Sixth Ave. to get to the theater district, or
DOWN 7th Ave to get to the restaurant.
omg are you coming?? you need to call me so we can hang out again! i miss you!
I second Don Giavonni and Vynl. The latter has a Dolly Parton-themed bathroom. That tells you a lot about the place. Great atmosphere pre-Xanadu, should you see the show. Thalia is good, too. But classier.
