The subject is self explanatory. Can any of you guys suggest things I can do in the city after prom at Tavern on the Green? We're willing to go downtown or the outer boroughs. We're not into the whole Comedy Club idea...

you could do what we did and get totally wasted and go to a club. that sounds so cliche though...

but seriously, clubs are fun. it depends on what your group of friends like to do - I mean do you want to go dance or do something more relaxed? we were so looking to blow off steam after being stuck at a shore club for 3 hours with our teachers as chaperones, but that was just us :o)

Your prom is at Tavern on the Green? Why couldn't I have gone to your high school?

We’ll probably end up staying somewhat sober for one of our friends, and the fact that we’re actually expected back in school at some point the following day...which frankly at that point I’ll be in college, and I won’t care anymore. The walking around the school in tuxes and prom dresses went down the drain since practically all the classes have trips that day.

We’re considering Copacabana, since a good portion of the class will be there, but half my limo will have had dance all of the night before prom, since we would have had our athletics awards formal the night before. Then we have people who don’t like to dance...so yeeeaaaah. I’m just looking into other options. Something really fun, even into the morning. Nothing too typical, if we can do it on the weekend, in someone's beach house it's a no go...

I think I could accommodate getting some without paying or sketchiness, but thanks for the suggestions DRG.

I was thinking the same thing!

Hah, tazber.

Are you going to still be in your prom clothes? If not, I suppose you could go to a hookah bar, but those are usually only fun when alcohol is involved. There are a lot of them in the East and West Villages. Updated On: 3/24/07 at 06:23 PM

Haha. Sounds great. But seeing that a couple people in my limo verbally slaughter people on the street that light up. I don't think it will float. I am officially hating on my limo. Why did I wind up in this one? There's a huge issue because half of us don't mind being really f-ed up the next morning--but then we have the totally straight edge bunch. Most of our class is being boring and having small house parties, which we have come to notice we do waaay too often.

My date (if I wind up bring him) won't be getting any, unless someone gets me absolutely ****face and I don't know what's going on. And that would seriously f-things up between us. So the getting laid part is doubtful if I go with the current limo I have bonded myself to...

That sucks about your limo Mar. Can't you guys split up after the prom and go do something yourselves, or do you have to stay with the whole group?

This is precisely why we lost two people from our limo. But I don't want to cause more limo drama, and although after party has been hell to plan for this group of people, it is by far the most tolerable group. At this rate I'll be taking a cab home pissed. It will be like our Senior "ski" trip, part deux, and everyone will hate each other, and people will get laid. Oddly enough, people are biffs with others that have conflicting interests, and since most of the people won't have dates, there's this false sense of a girl's night out part five thousand and twenty four--which almost makes me tempted to leave my date at home because it will be weird. Clubbing has somehow been vetoed (just like half an hour ago, I have no clue how...)

In theory it's supposed to be a collective effort, and we're supposed to come up with ideas and come to a somewhat unanimous decision. (Which won't happen, because we suck...)

Hellooo, I like that idea... We were trying to see if a show coincided with our prom, but like in theory our prom doesn't end until midnight, and I don't think anyone is down for leaving early. Because in theory by the time we get there, won't it be over?

OMG. At this point I don't even know why we're going anywhere, since we're supposedly going away that weekend. Crashing someone's place after prom would be so much easier...I am going to punch someone in the face.

But thank you for you suggestions, and if you have anymore let me know.

They have bands on all night. And there are usually people handing out fliers that get you in free. Plus, the whole area is really alive at that time so you guys could just kinda hang around or find a sidewalk cafe to sit at.

I'm not your Jewish mother, Marlene - but just keep in the back of your mind that college admission is revocable so have fun but don't cross too many lines, if you know what I mean.

Which is why a half limo full of straightedge and religiously motivated people is very convenient. Which reminds me, I still need to get in to college (my top choices that is)...

I hope Tazber's idea will float...or else we need to crash someone's house, and basically kick the people that need to sleep and are going to have a fit out or something...

We had some crazy idea about watching the sunrise over the Brooklyn Bridge...and maybe some ice cream or Grimaldi's but I don't think they are open then. I'll have to check.

Haha...siamese has started me on this crazy newfound fascination with hookah.

Does someone have a suggestion for a karaoke bar--that isn't taken over by Asians or people in bands?

Watching the sunrise over the Brooklyn Bridge sounds memorable. There has to be some place open for coffee/ice cream at that hour. The view from Brooklyn Heights is amazing, too, although the sun will be rising behind you. And good luck with the college thing -

I've lived in NY my entire life and never watched the sun rise - I may have to do that soon!

WickedGeek - it pays to do it on one good occasion, when you just don't want to go to sleep because you're so happy. I'm glad I did because after law school I saw the sun rise lots of times and weren't none of them happy or memorable for the right reasons!
