since when do snacks add 100 calories a DAY?

i just had a bag of chips and a snapple... 320 calories lol
guess i'm good for 3 days now?

my high school GSA always had the most kick-ass bakesales.
we would do them in the mornings durring finals and midterms... we'd have french toast caserole, muffins, donuts (yup, one of the members had a donut maker!), danishes, chocolate chip silver dollar pancakes, and have OJ and coffee too.

Haynes has instilled this STUPID 10/10 rule where you can't leave the class in the first & last 10 minutes of class because "Those are the most important times in class". That is BULLSH*T! In fact they are the exact OPPOSITE.

We do have one salvation though, Salasny (Former History teacher) is now VP.

I guess my high school really didn't give a crap about our health cause they sold all types of candy and sweets during lunch, along with fried chicken, pizza, hot dogs, and other not-so-healthy foods. The lines for the soda machines would be outrageous sometimes.

And every week it seemed like the football boosters or the basketball boosters or the hockey boosters held bake sales.

ugh--chocolate chip pancakes. I felt so sick after I got those one day by mistake. I thought it was blueberries in the pancakes instead.

I like pancakes and I like chocolate chips on their own but together they are vomit material.

I'm surprised the schools still serve food. Pretty soon it'll be like the airlines, bring your own.

Speaking of which, if the parents don't like what the school serves they can always pack their kid a lunch.

I avoid bake sales because people put WAY too much sugar in what they make. You don't need anywhere near that amount of sugar in baked goods.

Oh, how lovely to see your gorgeous face, nomdeplume! You don't frequent here nearly enough anymore! I'm nearly ready for another riotous Off-Topic Board discussion... have you read Kushner's MOTHER COURAGE adaptation recently published, originally done by Meryl Streep in the Park, and soon to be performed by Fiona Shaw at the RSC? I have quite a bit to say about it, most of it good...

And TheatreFan, that is truly ludicrous! I usually skipped the first ten minutes of most classes so it would have fallen on deaf ears! And SUNY Broome, as it is now accredited, is quite good in some areas so just try to remember it's not the school it's the student and you can make magic of it, or something close...

I generally disagree with the implementation of any rule that limits when one may be excused for personal reasons...

Back in the 40s,50s,60s and 70s, however...

He is all about these "statistics" but none of the students have EVER seen these "statistics". There is not one student that likes what does. Not to mention he recently got a VERY bad dye job on his hair... There are still clumps of grey showing.

OMG choc. chip pancakes!

Back when we used to go out all night and then have breakfast in the diner, I'd have choc. chip pancakes with butter AND syrup! YUM! I'd even eat them now~

No, I have not read Kushner's MOTHER COURAGE adaptation, and I did not catch Streep in it in the run in the Park, unfortunately. I like Streep's acting very much. Her Seagull in the Park was terrific.

I am not really wild for the Brecht play (Mother Courage), though I have seen it in production and I probably read it over 10 years ago.

I'm not a big Brecht fan unless you back to his early stuff like The Jewish Wife. That I like.

Conservative columnist/pill of a woman Betsy Hart would agree with this. She recently came out against school fundraisers of all kinds, saying, "I decided a while ago to put the kibosh on any and all fundraising by my kids for our local public schools. Given what my neighbors and I pay in property taxes, I refuse to allow my children to shake them -- or me, or even their own grandparents -- down for more. Moreover, keeping track of all the sales material, money and paperwork involved is incredibly time-consuming, and I don't have time to spare."
