NYC actors: How much to mail a headshot/resume now?
#1NYC actors: How much to mail a headshot/resume now?
Posted: 8/22/07 at 1:30amOkay it has been forever since I have mailed a headshot but I am doing it. But I think there was a postal increase and I don't know what it costs now. It used to be 60 cents, right? But it's different now isn't it? Help?

Posted: 8/22/07 at 1:40amno clue exactly. but since your headshot is an 8x10 and you're not folding it, it's considered "oversized mail"... so you follow that pricing...

Too much. I think that if people ask for submissions, they should do so online. Not only does it save poor actors money on repro, it saves actors money on shipping.
Out of principle, I've stopped submitting via mail. Even my managers rarely use mail anymore.

Also, if you get a good deal and get 100 printed for $100, and get your headshots taken for $300, you are essentially spending $5 every time you want to take time off work to audition for someone who may decide to pay you enough money over the course of a couple of months so that if you have a sublet, you won't have to charge your next set of headshots.
All of that is if you're lucky.
