bronx you got a 980 and got in! That gives me hope!!!!
You'll need an above-average GPA to compensate though, don't forget!
I have a great gpa and i already know that i am going to a different school. But i would love to know that i could get into a school like nyu with my pretty low sat scores!
middy, SUUUURE! Wanna pay for my Kaplan classes?
zippy, good! I HATE all standardized tests. They're certainly not indicative of how well someone will do in a certain course. I hope you get in!

The essays are the hardest part. I had the worst time ever writing my personal statement. As broadway_star_tomorrow. She helped me out at the last minute. It's the hardest thing I've ever had to write EVER. It's difficult to sum up your essence and convince people to choose you while staying "humble" in 750 words or less!

No SAT score (or GPA for that matter) guarantees you will OR won't get in. I have one friend who didn't get in with a 1240 and a 3.9... Many things factor in, and there is no way of knowing either way unless you apply.
So find out where you want to go and apply! Don't let a "probable" outcome dictate your education.

Blame Middy for my rant that has now distorted the thread until we reach the next page!

midnight,
i'm applying to (ooh...technically i APPLIED to) nyu for grad school for this fall, and I'm seriously thinking about living on campus. first of all, NYU doesnt have a campus, at least not in a traditional sense. it's a bunch of buildings in manhattan. and the grad school housing isn't so much like dorms as it is small apartments. and usually, you get a better rate than you would just living in the city.
