What grade are you in anyway?
High school was a great time for me to be idealistic. Of course, once I got to college, I realized what an oxymoron "dream school" was...
School is inherently not fun, even for those of us who hope to continue getting degrees beyond the BA or BS. (edited for spelling)

evelyn...i dont think college is going to be that GREAT because i am not the smartest kid ever, and i dont get the best grades, however...if i am going to struggle, id rather it be at nyu tisch than anywhere else! haha

LOL, well, let us know what you think when you get there. Things that seem minor from a distance (like financial aid and class size) have a way of becoming big deals once you experience them. That's why I applied to grad schools thinking of the objective more than the experience itself.

I applied to NYU for the Fall '05 semester. I have my audition at Tisch February 23rd for theatre directing. Although it was initially my "dream school," I'm no longer sold on the idea that NYU is the best school for me. But come April, if I get in, I'll be singing a completely different tune.
Oh, and I only have about a 3.3 GPA and my highest SAT was a 960. Not good, I know. But I still applied and I'm trying to be optimistic.
yea! Thats what I am giong to try to do. I figure i work my butt off in school and maybe it will all work off
* i know this is totally off the topic but im listening to a broadway radio and whoever sings in big river worlds apart is AWFUL*
I would also love to plug NYU, because I'm currently a senior and have had the time of my life here. Admissions are fickle, but that's the way at any school. Honestly, it's NYU's way of trying to weed out the kids who will come and maybe won't enjoy all it has to offer. Because as ITF said, NYU is NOT for everyone and you shouldn't ever force the school to fit you.
I also want to recommend (if you haven't already) checking out the website www.admissions.nyu.edu because that can answer a lot of questions for you right there. And of course, good luck to all you applicants!!
College has nothing to do with "being the smartest kid ever". If you find a program that you're truly passionate about, that fits you well, you WILL have an amazing experience. It's amazing to wake up every morning and go to class and learn about all interesting things that you care about.
Good luck, PJ and JWei!

my audition for tisch is feb. 15th! i'm so excited. i've seen a tisch production (copmany) and i was completely blown away. the course offerings sound really interesting to me, and being in the city is another major appeal. though the adjustment from small-town Vermont to NYC may prove to be difficult, i'm a strong person and hopefully i'll be able to make it through in the event that i end up there.
i can't wait for my audition!! and if i don't get in there - then maybe i wasn't mean to go there, who knows.

GPA are number equivalents to letter grades. For example, an A is 4.0, A- is 3.67, B+ is 3.33, B is 3.0, etc. etc. I think it tends to differ slightly based on school, but the highest GPA possible is generally a 4.0. They all get avereaged out in your last year of high school or cumulatively throughout your college career. So if you get a 3.9, it means you're nearly a straight A student, and that's pretty darn good.
What grade are you in at school?
bronx you got a 980 and got in! That gives me hope!!!!
