Hello friends,
Feb 2nd I'm auditioning for NYU Tisch as a transfer (non-MT, playwright horizon's first choice for studio). I was wondering if any of you who have done this could share your experiences, a basic rundown of what goes down, and also what generally they ask you during the brief interview? I assume it's just a few questions, but it would be helpful if I had a gerenal idea of what they might consist of. also, if any of you (including people who have auditioned for other schools) could share what monologues you used? i want to make sure mine are not overdone. Thanks!

Posted: 1/10/07 at 7:46pmThe interview was just like any other college interview... or at least I think it would be. I didn't audition anywhere else. They ask you about yourself and what you do, and that is obviously your time to shine without sounding obnoxious. Then they will ask you why this school is for you, etc. Pretty normal. Although they may talk about your monologues with you. That's what they did with me. So be prepared to discuss.

Posted: 1/10/07 at 8:12pmat my NYU audition (as well as the others that had interviews), she started by asking me about certain things on my resume, then sort of branched out from there. she also asked me to demonstrate one or two of my special skills, so don't pad those at all!! be prepared (for NYU) to express WHY playwrights is your first choice, as well.

I got accepted ED for STrasberg at Tisch adn they asked me what made me want to go into theatre, something they should know about me, if I came to the City a lot (since I live close enough by), why my first studio choice was what it was..

Posted: 1/12/08 at 11:54amI too am auditioning (Feb 9) for acting, and my first choice is Playwrights' Horizons. I have no clue about the other schools, though. I've been doing research, but I honestly can't decide. Does anyone know if any of the other studios offer the well-rounded sort of program that PH does (as in studying directing, playwrighting, and design as well as acting)

Posted: 1/18/08 at 3:13pmI auditioned in November ED and got accepted into Playwright's Horizons. All my interviewer asked me was my choice of studio and why, as well as to tell her about an experience with a book. lol. Break a leg, everybody!

Tisch drama majors are split between several studios, one of which is the MT studio, CAP21. The BFA is in Drama, not MT, but if you're in the MT studio, that is your major.
