kyle lies! LOL.

feinstein, I am at Stella Adler. I love it...I'm pretty convinced it's the best studio NYU offers because it pretty much gives you any tool that the other studios would for your acting. It's really an intense studio...there's a lot of extra hours for Adler students as the years go on. I also like it because they get into Shakespeare in the first year--I'm not sure if the other studios do that.

thanks again, bway girl! i'm so glad Stella Adler is an excellent choice, it's my second after Playwrights Horizons. May I ask, do the transfers fraternize with the older students? See, I took a year off b/w high school and college, and my birthday is in september, so I'd be essentially a 22 chillaxin' with 18 yr olds. That wouldn't deter me from attending the school, of course, as my desire for proper training extends beyond my need for community. I really appreciate your sharing.
and Sammi- I'm so glad to hear your audition went well! What were you monologues? Did ya nail 'em? I'm glad the interview portion was so conversational and not just like, Q&A. What's your studio choice?
My audition was supossed to be on Feb 2nd but I had a seizure on the way there. Right after I got off the train. I'm currently adjusting to a variety of medications, trying to find the right balance and all that, and unfortunatly for me that particular side effect had to happen at that exact moment. I called NYU but they just said "watch the website" for cancellations. Since I live in NYC you'd think I'd be able to just go to each audition and schlump around incase someone that was supossed to come didn't, and didn't cancel (likein my situation). So I've been watching the website like a hawk. I hope a stupid setback like that won't crush me dreams. peace out dawgs.

Weird - I can't see my last post here, but apparently it's showing up for everyone else if you saw the details about my audition, feinstein! lol.

My first piece was Tillie's opening monologue from The Effect of Gamma Rays..., and my second piece was Linda's monologue from Play It Again, Sam (I tried to not use extremely overdone monos). I wouldn't say that I nailed them, unfortunately, but it went OK. I'm hoping that the interview saved me! My first studio choice is Strasberg, second is Stella Adler :)

And feinstein, that's terrible about the seizure causing you to miss you audition! :o I can't even imagine. I know they told you to "watch the website," but maybe you should just show up to the other NYC auditions too, because we had a few people do that at my regional audition (without appointments) and two got to audition because of open spots! It's worth a shot :]

feinstein, there's a girl who's 24 in my group. She gets along with all of us just fine. There are a few transfers who get a holier than thou attitude about being older and exclude themselves. But they don't tend to mix in with the older kids either just because first years are at studio tuesday, thursday and friday while the older groups are there mondy wednesday Friday. It's really not about your age at all...it's about being in a similar place in the process.

I hope you're able to get another audition spot. let us know how it goes.

Would an incoming freshmen with a 1200 SAT be looked at? Just wondering.

thanks so much for the responses, everybody. I appreciate all your insights, etc. I will let you know how it goes! peace! and bdavis, i'd advise taking the SATs again. and if you can't... well, that's not *everything*, I mean if you have good grades and all they're not going to just dismiss you b/c of a low SAT score.

I plan on taking it 2 more times. I was an idiot this first time and didn't study but I have the college board book to study with this time. It was a bit of a shock because I have a 4.02 GPA in high school and I've taken 7 honors classes and 3 AP classes in my freshmen, sophomore and junior years. What is average SAT score for incoming freshmen at NYU? like 1300-1400?
