Maybe they should do Let My People Come
I had a cassette of it which I burned to CD.

Sadly, the ones who do are the loudest and garner the most attention. There are a lot of Christians who are more concerned with helping others and just living their lives.

"Nobody anywhere ever said the guy who was fired wasn't a Christian, Renart. Why do you insist on imagining a non-existent scenario to create a false equivalency"
The only comparison I was making was that both scenarios are non-stories with little or no background given and only one side presented.
As far as the show goes, Max is a character who has sex with numerous old women in order to finance a show. While some might not have an issue with a fictional character doing that, a private school might, especially if their name is listed in the cast bios.

Posted: 8/9/13 at 1:32pmNot saying that my experience is the same as this man's, but I had to "prove" I was a Christian. I had to give them the name of the church where I was baptized so that they could call to make sure. If I wasn't desperate for a job at that point I would have walked away.

Posted: 8/9/13 at 1:34pmI remember when you started there. I wondered what it would *really* be like and what you describe is close to the worst case scenario I imagined. But even I wouldn't have been able to imagine the pregnancy thing.

A friend of mine worked there and she got pregnant, out of wedlock, she wasn't even showing and hadn't told anyone other than me because I was pregnant as well and she was one month behind me in her pregnancy. The "principal" recognized the signs after seeing me just go through the morning sickness, cornered her about it and she admitted she was pregnant. She had gone to church there since she was a little girl, had worked there her entire teaching career and she was hoping for some leniency from them. She was told to "Pack your things now and get out". She didn't even get to say good bye to her kids and whatever she couldn't get out of the building that night she wasn't allowed to come back for. We had no benefits at the school and were paid so little that she didn't have any savings to fall back on.
The week after she was fired they had to nerve to take up a special offering for an "in need unwed mother" during church service and then they showed up at her door with a bag of canned goods and a check for like $200. It was sickening.
I have been in some bad situations in my teaching career, but that place took the cake.

Way to go Christian school! Preserving the integrity of Christ's word and teachings by firing people for no reason whatsoever.
Who Would Jesus Fire indeed.
This kind of Selective Enforcement of the Rules in their book of fairy tales (Staff At Christian Schools Shalt Not Perform In Community Theater, it is abomination and their blood shall be upon them) really needs to come to an end.
Or not. Frankly, I can't say I care. Doesn't affect me in the slightest. I'm not dumb (or desperate) enough to work at one of those Bigot Factories anyway, and frankly, anyone who is dumb enough to work at one of those Bigot Factories, with their Religious Exemptions From The Law So They Can Violate The Laws Of Decency Their Book Of Fairy Tales Supposedly Espouses, has no right to complain when they get fired over petty **** like this.

We had a flap here in my neck of the woods where a married teacher at a Christian School was fired for getting pregnant- the school didn't want to have to answer embarrassing questions from the students. She went across the street (literally and figuratively) to the Catholic school when the Principal said "Our married teachers get pregnant all the time."
I still don't understand why playing Max is so sinful.

Posted: 8/9/13 at 1:57pmRoscoe, it was take the job or lose my house...I don't consider myself an idiot. I kept my integrity and my head held high the whole time and learned more about who I was as a person and where my priorities were. Lifers who drink the Kool-aid while seeing those things going on...I'll agree they are the idiots. I can't imagine this guy hadn't seen similar things done to others before this happened to him.

"But only one of the stories is real and the fake one is predicated on the notion that the fired community theater actor who was in The Producers was not a Christian."
Huh? I thought I clarified my point in my second post stating that the comparison I was making is that both scenarios - real(presented in original post) and hypothetical (but based on stories I have seen on a website which shall remain nameless) - amount to non-stories in my opinion: "Teacher Claims School Fired Him/Her Because ______" but then fail to give adequate background (ie, actual reporting) and only present one side. The use of the word Christian was only used as an example of the type of story "that website" likes to do and not a specific reference to this teacher. My usage of the word "reversed" was probably ill-chosen but just couldn't grab another one out of my head at the time. I could go back and edit the original post but I don't like to do that. Perhaps your objection is with comparing anything with foxnews.com. My personal feeling is that bad reporting is bad reporting, regardless of who is doing it.

These stories are actually making me happy I went to Catholic school. We even did a production of Sweet Charity. My senior year. A production where the largest role I could play was still a F*CKing supporting role.
I digress.
