This story is so completely effed up on so many levels.
Cops 'Corrected' Witness in Fla. Shooting

"The gods who nurse this universe think little of mortals' cares. They sit in crowds on exclusive clouds and laugh at our love affairs. I might have had a real romance if they'd given me a chance. I loved him, but he didn't love me. I wanted him, but he didn't want me. Then the gods had a spree and indulged in another whim. Now he loves me, but I don't love him." - Cole Porter

Are we surprised that you can still get killed for being black in the wrong neighborhood? Or that the police support vigilantism?

"You travel alone because other people are only there to remind you how much that hook hurts that we all bit down on. Wait for that one day we can bite free and get back out there in space where we belong, sail back over water, over skies, into space, the hook finally out of our mouths and we wander back out there in space spawning to other planets never to return hurrah to earth and we'll look back and can't even see these lives here anymore. Only the taste of blood to remind us we ever existed. The earth is small. We're gone. We're dead. We're safe." -John Guare, Landscape of the Body

Since when was the (self-appointed, apparently) "Neighborhood Watch Captain" allowed to carry a gun?

Growing up, our neighborhood watch consisted of nosey old women who peaked out of their curtains.

Following a teenage boy, starting a fight with him, and then shooting him to death when he is unarmed is a Constitutional right! This is very clearly defined in the Second Amendment. Obviously, it is the victim's fault for not carrying a gun.

I mean, he was walking in the rain. Slowly. Wearing a hoodie. What else was this Hannity-loving Great American supposed to do?

It's also in the Bible. And if you ask me where then you are going to Hell.

I went to high school a few towns over from where this happened and wasn't at all surprised when I heard that this happened in Sanford. The town is notorious for this kind of attitude toward minorities, especially the African-American community. It's tragic that a boy was killed; hopefully, though, the attention paid to the PD as a result of this careless shooting will effect change. Sadly, though, I doubt it will.
