Which version?
OBCR: What a bunch of chain smokers. Still the makings of a great show though.
OLCR: Ruthie Henshall CANNOT ACT TO SAVE HER LIFE. It's so irritating. Such a shame.
FILM: Best recording of the music. Pity so much was left out, but perhaps for the best. Zeta-Jones and Gere did a pretty good job, Zellweger isn't my cup of tea, but she's ok still.
And one footnote, I think Taye Diggs in the film is my favourite bandleader on the line, 'Five, Six, Seven, Eight!'. Just because!

Color Purple -
not bad if you separate the wheat from the chafe.
Raisin -
Also not bad, but not great. The performances sound super though.

I'm probably going to be butchered for this . . . but both are great, but I like the Vanessa Williams version the best.

I've only seen the movie, and it's beautiful.

Love the Revival with Parker, I though she wasn't bad.
