I finally made up my mind & I'm gonna go spend New Years in NYC (along w/ almost 1 million people). For people that have been there, how long does it usually take to empty out? If I need to catch a train @ 1:00 from Penn Station, would I be able to make it? Thanks

if you can find a way to make through the herds of people, then yea. You'll just have to be really aggressive and move fast and push your way through the crowds. I would say 1 is pushing it a bit. Can you take a later train?

The next one after that is a 1:45 which wouldn't pull in until 2:30 & I'm not so thrilled about it.

I've never done it before so after the 2 mins of fireworks & whatever, they open up the gates & everyone just pushes & leaves? Do they open up the gates at a certain street 1st?

If you're talking about going to Times Square, all I can say is "DON'T GO". I have never met anyone who enjoyed doing it, myself included.

If you do insist on going though, I would suggest cutting off all liquids around noon because if you have to go to the bathroom you will not be allowed back to your spot (That is if you're allowed to leave at all). The police are mean and the people there are cold, tired and cranky. The only reason they seem happy on TV is because they have those cameras in their faces.
