It's pretty rare for businesses to get shut down--especially in NYC, where most people take the subway to get to work.

I think it's happened once since I've lived here.

Even the schools, it seems, mostly start late on so-called snow days.

If you wanted a snow day, you shouldn't be living in the unofficial capital of the world. :P Move to Minnesota or something, I'm sure you'll get snow days out there.

Weez, you NEVER get "snow days" as holidays in places like Minnesota! They actually know what to do with the white stuff up there; in fact, they're PREPARED for it! (My Michigan-born and -raised husband snickers at how we East Coasters drive in the snow and have conniptions at the sight of a mere flurry.)

I'm Southern. At the first flake, I go to the store to buy milk, bread, and bourbon, then I head home.
