Am I the only one who finds this article in the NY Times HILARIOUS????
Excerpt:
...Nixon expresses both anger and pain that his aides have not been able to establish an image of him as a warm and caring person. He makes several suggestions about how this could be accomplished, warning frequently in the single-spaced 11-page document that it must appear that the examples of his warmth were discovered by others and not promoted by White House aides.
“There are innumerable examples of warm items,” he wrote, saying that he had been “nicey-nicey to the cabinet, staff and Congress around Christmastime” and that he had treated cabinet and subcabinet officials “like dignified human beings and not dirt under my feet.”
With regard to the “warmth business,” the memorandum says, it is important to emphasize to anyone who may write an article that the president “does not brag about all the good things he does for people.”

There was something in the Post today about the Nixon library being turned over to the National Archives. The article spoke specifically about the library's attempt to 'change history' =
"Transition to federal control ushers the black sheep of presidential libraries into the fold of the prestigious National Archives.
With the stamp of the federal system on the library comes a major makeover for certain less-than-acurate exhibits. (Timothy) Naftali (the museum's new federal director) recently oversaw the demolition of the revisionist Watergate gallery, including a section that said the scandal was a coup plotted by Democrats."
Incredible! We all know how paranoid Nixon was, but knowing that there are people out there who are still convinced he was the victim of COUNTLESS conspiracies by (fill in the blank) is truly frightening. No doubt many of these true patriots are the same ones who reelected Shrub, salute him smartly and march to the beat of the current administration.
A click for life.

Posted: 7/12/07 at 10:50amMiss P I recall reading years ago that Nixon would often remark "At least the kids like me" whenever he got beat up in the press-- it was his laughable contention that kids & teens LOVED Nixon! I was quite young during his area and remember being terrified of his jowly, glowering countenance!

I have been to Yorba Linda.
The Nixon library is wonderful.
The post's description of the Watergate display is wholly inaccurate. Nixon took responsibility for the mistake in the display at the library.

It was not related to Spitting Image but an American Rip off of sorts.
