re: OCDs

I hate to have anything on my hands. So no notes or cute drawings for me. I'll unconciously rub them off. Just a tiny bit strange.

re: OCDs

Oh, where to start???

I always have to have the door locked when I am in my apartment (or a hotel room), and I will check it repeatedly to make sure that I locked it.

re: OCDs

Oddly, my room is the biggest mess on the planet (really...I can't step on the floor and there's a rotting pomegranate somewhere---I'm playing "find the smell"), but in everything else, I'm ridiculously OCD. Not in organization, but in symmetry. If someone hits me on the shoulder, I have to hit myself on the other side. Makes me look pretty stupid.

Things like that.

re: OCDs

I'm creative. Creative minds can't be bothered with cleaning up. re: OCDs Just kidding. But you should see my room. I'm so OCD organized in everything else and my room is a disaster area. But then again right now I am packing for thespian conference, ny, spain, and ny again.

re: OCDs

I cannot stand when people crack their knuckles.

I have to alternate sides of the mouth when eating certain foods. (i.e. popcorn, cereal)

When i stack my books they have to go in height order.

Thats just the beginning...

It's not to the point were it is uncontrolable, but sometimes it does make my life just a teeny bit more stressful

re: OCDs

jwei- That drives me nuts too. Or when people keep tapping the little book holding basket thing under the seat with their foot.. ARG.

My whole room has to be clean or I cant work. Nothing on the floor or papers anywhere... it drives me nuts.

When I walk around though different rooms in my house at night, I turn on the light in the room I'm in, turn on the light in the next room I go through, turn off the light in the last room, turn on the light in the next room, turn off the light in the last room all the way through my house. I can't walk in pitch blackness... it freaks me out. When I try, I end up running and slamming my door.

re: OCDs

Um, you really don't want to know. It's much better now, but there was a time where everything I did involved some weird ritual.

Counting is my biggest problem... some numbers are just so unfortunate-looking.

re: OCDs

Most people here are just mentioning little quirks that they have. Is that really OCD, though? I have a few quirks. I've often wondered if I actually have OCD or if I'm just weird or anal. Because the things I do are really strange, I can't even explain them. Like I have to step on a particular type of surface the same number of times with each foot. For example, if I'm walking on a sidewalk and then walk into the street, I have to take an even number of steps on the sidewalk (so I have the same number with each foot) before stepping onto the street. And then I have to take an even number of steps on the street. And so on. I generally like my body to be symmmetrical. And another thing: I spell everything out in my head. When I read or when I think or when someone says something, I spell it out in my head, grouping the letters by threes. It takes me a while to process stuff that way, but I'm pretty fast at it. So do those things sound like OCD or am I simply really strange?

re: OCDs

#1Elphie, I think these things are more anal retentive things rather than OCD.

re: OCDs

I do nearly every single one of the things everyone's mentioned...except the clean thing. That one just never stuck.

re: OCDs

Yeah, TGIF, I think so too. But when I mentioned the walking thing to my friend she seriously thought I was insane! Her reaction scared me a little. I think everyone has tiny, weird things they do that seem strange to others. I don't do the clean thing, either, Lael.

re: OCDs

I have diagnosed OCD...so I'm not so bad anymore. U wouldn't tell by my room, but everything must be organized. Even though my room is a mess, everything is an organized messy. Like all my loose papers are in one place. My art stuff is scattered in a drawer. However, if I have clothes laying on the floor it'll drive me nutz and I won't be able to do anything till I pick them up...same with soda cans...once two are empty in my room from when my friends come over it's like "MUST DISPOSE OF!!!" lol I used to always check the door to see if it was locked over and over even when my rents would assure me that it was. Let's see, what else do I do...I can't stand certain feelings on my hands or body, but that's more of a sensetivity disorder--which ties into OCD. I am anal about even numbers. If something is not an even number I go bazirk. That's about it...if I think of any I will be sure to inform you! I have a whole hoard of "disorders"...Tourettes, OCD, Sensetivity Disorder, Generalized Anxiety, Depression at times, but they are all tied together, so it could be expected. re: OCDs

UPDATE: Forgot one...I tend to obsess over things. Not just in terms of "Broadway...I love broadway!!" sorta things. I get an idea about something in my head and then obsess about it for ever! And if I get an idea in my head while I'm in school, that's just about all I can think about. That sux! Lol, but it causes me to be very thorough (sp) w/ my obsessions.
