Damn right. They might as well just say, "Realizing he's not doing too well governing here on Earth, Shrub looks to Mars and the moon for two giant intergalactic do-overs." It's easier to build an empire in uninhabited locations, as Shrub is reminded every day in Iraq.

And, Roxy, it's nice to see you actually respond to points, but counter-pointing other examples of corruption is a problematic argument. Are you saying, in fact, that two wrongs make a right? Are you saying it doesn't matter that the Republicans are corrupt because here are examples of Democratic corruption?

Because one does not cancel out the other. But if that's the way you think, you have to give up attacking one side and then dismissing clear examples of your moon-colonizing, Mars-travelling heroes.

Well, that depends, C. How high was unemployment at the time? How many people were homeless then? Were there 43 million Americans (including MILLIONS of children) without healthcare then? Were ENORMOUS tax cuts to the wealthy happening with such regularity that the national debt was almost insurmountable?

I think y'all are giving too much credence to what obviously are two VERY BAD IDEAS.

ckeaton, at a time of record umemployment, when the defecits are so large as to be unfathomable by mortal men, when the gulf between the have and the have-nots in this country is widely considered unbridgeble, when our armed forces are gobbling up the gdp with widening gulps while carrying out the folly that this so called president thinks is a foreign policy, when vetens benefits are down, when millions of uninsured children have turned our cities into nightmare visions unseen since the dark days before batista's fall with their begging in the streets, when even the most conservative economists are predicting the bankruptcy of the united states and it's complete and utter failure as an economic entity within a year, when dogs and cats have begun living together in an unholy alliance of interspecial dating and still do not have the same rights as humans, how can this president even imagine undertaking such a foolish mission?????

Again... I think we can look to the past to some other seemingly foolish costly programs. All administrations make them. It is a function of politics. Not only Republicans pay $500 for a toilet seat in the white house.

In Kennedy's time, there were passionate pundits who would have decried the decision to go to the moon as well. It's a tale as old as time, a song as old as rhyme.
