Posted: 10/23/13 at 3:40amAs it's free I will be very soon, but right now I'm on the road and waiting until I get to a hotel that has a decent wifi connection. I just tried to do the itunes update and that alone is saying 2 hours or so for the download. I don't want to think what the OS update would require.

I upgraded yesterday. It took about 90 mins start to finish. I'm still playing around with the new features but if you use Safari that alone is worth upgrading for. I can't believe how fast it has become.
Just make sure as a precaution to back up your system first.

Posted: 10/23/13 at 2:06pmWell.. It has slowed my computer down. But I think I had issues before hand. So this evening I will be doing a complete system wipe and reinstall. I like doing that every other year anyway. Hopefully that solves things. But I will say.. I am liking it so far.

Mine was slow for about an hour after the upgrade. There was a warning message that came up that said it might be slow while it was doing stuff I couldn't see.
Hopefully yours will improve. :)

I'm upgrading tonight.
CNET recommends 5 steps prior to the upgrade. They seem like good, common sense and maybe they go without saying, but--just in case:
5 things to do before the upgrade

Posted: 10/24/13 at 12:16pmI had to do it twice. But it all seems good now. My computer has been acting weird for a while. I thought a clean system reinstall would do the trick. But it still not what it used to be.

It took about 45 minutes to download, and another 45 minutes to install. 90 minutes in all. But it's up and running on my iMac, and works fine.
I still have to do my Macbook.
And my iPhone upgraded this morning as well. No issues.

Just an update that my iMac this morning was so much faster than my Macbook. It's taking nearly 3 hours just to download the update! It's already been 2.
Same WiFi for the download, too. Maybe I'm too far into "peak hours" now.

Posted: 10/25/13 at 3:27pmI don't know if it is because of indexing or what.. but it definitely runs faster after one or two days of use.
