This woman wrote speeches? For Obama? The writing in this article is so bad I couldn't make heads or tails of it.

Is it just me, or does she sound kind of crazy and stalker-y?

Well, someone has to, I guess.
"[Gore] was widely perceived as arrogant. If you know something, you're not smart. You're a smarty-pants. It's annoying. People get annoyed with your knowledge. It goes back to high school, to not doing your homework ... 'There's something I should know, I don't know why I should know it but someone knows it and I don't. So I'm going to have to make fun of him now.'"

A disgruntled speechwriter leaves the Democrats because she doesn't like the way the media has been playing certain things. I suppose you think this is it for Obama? Compared to what Republicans are doing in this campaign, her gripes are petty.
But it looks like we'll have to brace ourselves for 8+ years of Palin as President. The tide has clearly changed.

I don't know. Mustard-South-Beach-Bathing-Suit-gate could really do us in. I'm still not sure what that was even about???

Yeah, I read the mustard thing three times. Still not getting it.

I'll call the writer and ask her to put it in the form of a showtune so that you can understand it a little better.

There's so much I don't understand - the Grey Poupon, "Joe the Plumber is right," comparing ANY of Sarah Palin's inanity to Obama's "57 States" comment, etc, etc.
I also don't get the in quotes mention that Biden "good looking" man. Who is she quoting there?
Whatever, Wendy. Who needs you?

Why don't you just explain it, Goth?

I thought Obama wrote all his own speeches anyway. I smell Republican operative.

Well spotted again artscallion! I need to drink my morning coffee. I'm slow on these things this morning. (Long night of work, little sleep.)

Wasn't "Not Joe the Plumber" one of their operatives, too?

Wow, she sounds like she has a lot of solid reasons to vote for McCain. Because Obama didn't fawn over her gift of Grey Poupon (that sounds like the Spring Awakening spinach incident!) and because the media is mean to Sarah Palin and some ignorant doofus -- seen his commentary on Israel yet? -- trying to milk his moment of fame.
I'm convinced.

Except when attached to her kiss off letter, I can find no indication that she was ever actually a speechwriter for Obama. I see her credited to Edwards and Clinton all around the web, but nothing for Obama.

Maybe she was a speechwriter for him in the same way Charles Guiteau was a speechwriter for Ulysses S. Grant.

Well, that made no sense.

Why can't Goth just explain it? Clearly, it's some big obvious anecdote we're all missing.

Leave him alone! He and Wendy Button are thinking up rhymes for "Poupon."

"See campaigns get complicated when you’ve written for so many Democrats. Not only had I written for Senator Edwards, but I had also been Senator Hillary Clinton’s speechwriter. Senator Joe Biden is a “good looking” man and his care after my father almost died from an aneurysm is the kind of kindness you never forget. When I saw Edwards at a traffic light in D.C. about a year after our meeting, he asked for help and I did and it was an honor to help him with his concession speech."

Someone has paid her to write? Really? Really!

It's pretty common for speechwriters to be picked up at traffic lights.
