That sounds pretty specific to me.

I still do not think either side should be confident right now. Here is what ABC News is saying. One pollster is saying that there is no clear evidence that Obama's response to Hurricane Sandy has helped him directly, but he has improved in a related gauge. David Muir is also saying that Romney has been drawing large crowds lately. He says that Romney still has some momentum.

Okay, you are ignoring my link. Romney drawing huge crowds, that includes him fibbing about his 30,000 crowd that turned out to be about half of that recently. His camp is still calling for donations in swing states rather than GOTV like the Obama campaign is doing. And if you want to talk about Sandy being an unclear impact, one thing clear is Romney's "Jeep is shipping off to China" ad went off like a led zeppelin and don't think the labor vote in Ohio is going to ignore that.

This reminds me of the recent Deadspin article about that people in political journalism ignore Nate's polling analysis the way people in baseball ignored his PECOTA model because 'math iz hardz'.

It's depressing to see the amount of money spent on these campaigns. Per the link DAME posted, $33M was spent on ads in one Ohio county *alone*.

Watching some Wisconsin TV stations over the weekend, there were entire commercial breaks that were nothing but political ads. President, Senate, Congress- nightmarish.

Joe- I'm in Pennsylvania and it is rare to see a non-political commercial. Friday night (when I first got power back after the storm) I went through 3 hours without seeing a single non-political commercial. Citizens United and these Super Pacs have made watching TV something to despise this time of the year.

The media:

a) Wants a story more exciting than "the only way Romney can win is if state polls are systematically statistically biased"

b) is mostly made up of white dudes, who are pretty much Romney's only audience, so yeah, they find him a lot more compelling than anyone who isn't a white dude does.

The "it's a dead heat" story is BS. Obama isn't going to win by a big margin, but he has an extremely big chance of winning. (And yeah, plenty of people who write for a living are so mathematically illiterate they can't distinguish between those two concepts, either. Makes me glad I forced myself to do statistics on top of four years of high school math.)
