Obama signs NDAA. Welcome to Martial Law in the United States of America.

President Obama has officially abandoned his threat to veto the National Defense Authorization Act that includes a provision that allows the military to indefinitely detain US Citizens. I guess that will be a pretty convenient way to deal with the Occupy movement.
If you've never called your Senator or the White House before, I think now is the time to do it.
There's no way in hell I can vote for Obama in 2012 now.

My understanding is Obama was NEVER going to veto it because of the indefinite detention clause. The bill originally placed restrictions on who the President could declare a high risk terrorist detainee. Obama felt that limited his power and that is why he issued the veto threat. This bill takes those limits out and that he is why he backed off his veto threat.
This is way more extreme than anything Bush even tried to pass. It's inexcusable and makes it impossible for me to support him for reelection. I'm either going to have to write in Bernie Sanders or be forced to vote for Ron Paul.
And there are members of the Tea Party opposed to this bill. It's the establishment ramming this through with the President's blessing. Not the Tea Party.

That sounds nice Trent. But the bill also includes a provision that allows the President to waive that exemption based on national security. That pretty much negates that whole paragraph you cited.

I don't know. The articles I have read have said the waiver is for detention. And Obama was originally going to veto the bill because it required him to get approval from Congress before getting that waiver. And now it doesn't.

Right PalJoey. And the mainstream media's total lack of coverage on this is scary. Because there is no mainstream media left in this country anymore. It's all Corporate Media.
This law is terrifying. And for once that is not hyperbole.

I frequently have to 'check' myself, and step back from an initial overly emotional response to news these days. And generally, I find a way to get things in proper perspective. I have yet to come to any approach with this that doesn't give me the heebie-jeebies.

Congress, along with Obama, is set to destroy the Bill of Rights and the mainstream media is saying nothing about it.

Obama threw gay marriage rights under the bus, why wouldn't he also toss the Constitution down there too?

who are you planning to vote for in 2012? and do you think that person has a realistic chance of winning? or are you just gonna vote your conscience no matter who the nominees are? and would it matter if it is predicted to be a close race and you were choosing the lesser of two evils?

well, the latest enquirer cover states that bill is urging hillary to run in 2012 against obama cause she could beat him, if that's any consolation.

We just need to be patient! Don't get all hating on Obama just because he doesn't do what you want when you want! He's got an awful lot on his plate! Would you rather have John McCain as President?
