I think you're right. Whoever suggested 'confirmation' probably came closest to it. Folks in this country aren't necessarily named after saints. (Saint Tiffany?) At confirmation they take on the name of a chosen saint and (WAY back when I was confirmed) you celebrated your saint's name day. I'm afraid it's a custom that has gone out of style.

In Europe you can't celebrate on every day when you see your name in the calendar, because it would be expensive for your family.
On that day you get cake, flower and presents. (So you have to choose one day).
**I hate that rule**. Anyway, I got only flowers and I could decide the Sunday lunch menu.

I don't have a name day for either my Russian name nor my English (American) name.

Well, my Russian name is found in the "Polish" section...I am part Polish - but screw that!


Besides, my birthday is on the October Revolution.

lol my Birthday is the day before the Olsen Twins...gives me a bit of a complex since we're the same age and they may be just a tad more succesful than me at this point...I was also born on Thursday the 12 Oooooh scary!!
