so, what do you want first? review of show, or what happened backstage?

Wow, Dre's taking longer than I do to write posts which is an accomplishment. This might be a longie..

And my pencil was back?! Now Andrew stabbed Greg? That's it, I'm just going to have to give those boys a big scolding and tell them if they misuse it one more time, I'm taking the toy away from them!

We weren't back in the pit at all tonight were we?

Aww, well if it was in honor of me, I should have gotten a shoutout...not from Greg, that's old stuff, but one from Andrew would have been awesome! But wait, is Andrew allowed or able to give shoutouts? Hmmm...

I'm excited to see tomorrow, wonder if there was amusing writing or just poses...

it's ok, Jamie.

Finally!!!!, it is here. Hope you like it.

Ok, where do I start? I guess I’ll write what I saw and felt now since you guys are dying to know and Traci won’t be back to near the end of Saturday’s evening cam. So, review then backstage.

Greg got no entrance applause. Traci and I started to clap but no one followed us so it sort of died. Then Dennis came on (standby for John) and he got an alright entrance applause. (This was his second performance. And if I seem hard on him, I’m really sorry! And also, it’s about midnight but I decided you would love to read this tomorrow morning as a nice surprise. So enjoy!)

Give Them What They Want~ pretty good. Ensemble was great as usual. Dennis seemed to keep the energy up and, of course, Greg did a great job. Joanna got a delayed entrance applause since we were all still looking at Greg and Dennis. The part where Dennis is suppose to try and sell his family ring wasn’t up to scratch. John seem to put more energy into that and made more of a big deal of it.

What Was a Woman To Do~ Joanna was fantastic as usual. I love that song cause I think it is right in my range. The usherette was great and so were the other girls. During this song, Lawrence and Freddy are suppose to converse but Dennis didn’t seem to do that as much as John did (sorry I’m comparing Dennis to John so much but I really liked how John did it, whether he was directed to do it that way or if he took it upon himself to do it. It just looked a bit more realistic when John did it.)

Great Big Stuff~ Was fantastic as usual. I actually think Norbert had more energy then before cause he was really everywhere with this song (in a good way). Big pencil joke was great! I love how Greg does that. “A big pencil, you know, I..I don’t know.” *Pouts* Great stuff! (Pun intended!)

Chimp In a Suit~ Greg was terrific! But unfortunately, I was paying more attention to the times Norbert cause the times he comes out are great! If you have seen the show, you know what I mean!

Oklahoma?~ Jolene was brilliant, especially with that shriek (if you call it that). That is my favorite part of her character. Dennis didn’t look that sad about going (to Oklahoma). Oh, and Norbert, when trying to get to his seat in the box area, goes to the wrong box area and climbs over the railing to the right one. And at one point, has one foot on either side of the railing, but no hands. Seriously looked like he could have fallen. But he didn’t. Norbert is safe! After the song, when Lawrence is trying to decide how to get rid of her, Greg has his head in his hands (so funny!) and Norbert just stands there, like something bad happened, but he wasn’t the one who caused trouble, but also didn’t want to start any, so said the best thing (which he does in every performance, but I just love it.) “Well,…she seemed nicccee.” (‘nice’ said in his whiny sort of voice. Love that part of his character.)

All About Ruprecht~ Great energy at beginning. Dennis sounded great! Norbert was great as usual and Jolene looked disgusted as usual. Everything was perfect. Except that Dennis doesn’t kick as high as John.

Her I Am~ Great fight between Lawrence and Freddy before song. Could really see the anger. And Sherie was incredible. And of course, Andrew did a fantastic job of pretending to be knocked out by Sherie hitting him in the head with her French translation book. She has a great singing voice!

Nothing Seems Too Wonderful to Be True~ Sherie was great, as was Norbert. His lyrics are hilarious! So, song went well.

Ruffhausen Mit Shuffhausen~ Interesting German accent that Dennis put on. Good one. He originally has a British accent, so,…..yeah. Oh, and when he takes out his feather to tickle Norbert, Norbert gets ready for it, but can’t keep a straight face. He was seriously ready to laugh about the feather. Also, Dennis forgot his line in the song right before Sherie sings hers. So, he lost the line, has a smile on his face, and looks out at the audience (but really at the screen where he can see the conductor to give him the line.) But Sherie had her line and that saved him. And he picked it up from there. After this song, when Norbert is transferred from someone to Andrew (where he grabs his ass), usually John did it, but this time Greg had to carry him. (I think that Dennis is not able to perform the same things John can, like lifting Norbert and kicking high up. Which is sad, but then Greg carries him and has to transfer him to Andrew. Fun stuff.)

Like Zis/Like Zat~ Same as always. Great! Greg lets Andre be so romantic and cute and, makes you fall for him (not sure who, Greg or Andre) but it is always cool. Especially one of his last lines in the song:

Muriel: I like zis.
Andre: You like zat?
Muriel: I like zat.
Andre: So do I. *looks away in amazement*
Love the bolded part. And how he allows Muriel to rest her head on his chest/shoulder. So cute!

Anyway, back to the review.

The More We Dance~ Like I said, Dennis couldn’t do the same things John could, like with his dancing at the end, but otherwise, hard song to do in German, and he did great! And seemed to enjoy Sherie’s kissing. Haha. Norbert on vespa was great too.

Love is My Legs~ One of my favorite songs (right up there with Great Big Stuff). Well, when Norbert came in with his wheelchair, some plastic fell off. He looked down at it while he continued to talk, trying to figure out if he should bend down to pick it up or leave it. Eventually, he leaves it and starts to sing “Love Is My Legs.” Right before Sherie joins in the song, she moves towards him and does a side kick to get rid of the black plastic from Norbert’s wheelchair. It falls off the stage and into the pit. The audience looks up at Norbert and he is bent down, trying hard not to crack up and when he looks at Sherie who just started saying a line, she looks like she is about to crack up too. It’s awesome!!! The song, was great as usual. Nothing different except for that.

Love Sneaks In~ Right before this song, Greg comes on with his robe and handcuffs (saw that you couldn’t convince him to wear the towel. Sad.) Dennis does a great job with this song. Hits the last note (I want to say better than John did). Fantastic!! Our favorite scene came next! Balcony scene! No Kerrie hiding behind Greg so he couldn’t have been in a towel. Great as usual.

Son of Great Big Stuff~ great song. Norbert sounded great as usual. At the very end, though, Sherie is suppose to close the doors (when she is the famous purple robe) before jumping on the bed and conking Norbert out. But, first, she had to untangle her robe that was caught on the handle. And it actually looked liked it ripped. (but not until later).

*SPOILERS!!! (I only write this so that if people really want to see the show and not know what happens after Son of Great Big Stuff)*

The Reckoning~ So Sherie enters and leaves, nothing interesting happens. Norbert enters (in the famous purple robe, that looks like it is trailing a little.) Norbert almost trips on it, and after reading the note from Sherie, Dennis is suppose to go around Norbert to start singing downstage. Well, he started to go round, but tripped on the robe and almost looked he would take a nose-dive. But he took a couple to steps and was fine. Scared me for a second though.

Dirty Rotten Number~ Great song, of course. And Dennis did a GREAT job with this song! And Norbert, as usual, FAN-BLOODLY-TASTIC!!!!!!!!!! And right before this scene, was my favorite dialogue:
Freddy: You..You’re smooth.
Lawrence: I hope you can say that to me when I’m old and grey.
Freddy: I just did.
Dennis took a bit of time saying his line but it was still funny.

Finale~ Sherie coming back is always great. Great accent. And how she calls Norbert, Randy Bentwick; excellent name. And Dennis’s Spanish accent is actually better than his German.

So, that was the review. But I must say, John and Norbert’s quick fire dialogue is much more better to watch, but if you were just to see it once, Dennis did a great job showing what the show is all about. So, what you have all been waiting for. The backstage review.

So, we got out there right after Joe Cassidy rides off with the bike. We got down to the stage door and were like the first there. But Kevin the doorman wasn’t there. Some other guy was there. I mentioned how we were going to see Greg and the “bouncer” as my dad called him said that he mentioned it to him just now and he led us in to the backstage area to wait from Greg. My dad was there, Traci and me, and Traci’s mom joined us. (My mom couldn’t make it. So, you actually saw Traci’s mom, not mine.) We look around backstage. (Not that big, maybe 2 feet deeper than my high school.) Most of the sets are actually hanging instead of on the ground. (weird but true). We saw Greg’s champagne bottle and the fake money and Sherie’s hat at the end. And right before Greg comes, we see his handcuffs. Unfortunately, we didn’t get a picture of them.

Greg comes down. (they change fast don’t they?) He shook hands with everyone. (My dad, me, Traci, and her mom) then led us upstairs. Not much room at all. Second floor, little hallway and BOOM! We’re in Greg’s room. AND IT IS TINY! Don’t believe the cam! The way that works is that it is a handheld cam on a tripod pointing toward the mirror, so if you want to look into the camera, you have to look at it’s reflection in the mirror. Weird stuff, but cool.

So, Greg said to stay there and hang out while he goes downstairs and sign a few things. He actually told us to sign a guestbook too, which was awesome. So, Traci did that first. I looked around. And guess what, WRQ? Saw your pencil!!! And took a picture of it. Not a good one. But not bad. And it (the pencil) is easily accessible when sitting down at the computer. Anyway, wandered round his dressing room (which didn’t take long), and brushed against the famous robe. And seriously, no wonder he wears that instead of a towel! It is like the softest cotton ever! So soft and cuddly. That is what Traci is holding in one of the webcam pictures with my head turned, telling her it is awesome. Also looked at the picture that John drew of the cast. Awesome! He called Greg the “rock” of the group. Real quote: “You are our rock.” I actually thought it said “You are a rock” which was weird then I reread it. Haha. I also took a picture of the pencil that Joanna gave him. And, I completely forgot to figure out how Greg does his floating thing. I was too interested in looking around. And forgot that he did that. Haha.

Well, while I was writing in the journal and Traci’s mom took pictures of people out of the window (so did my dad.) And then all of a sudden, Traci’s dad was in the doorway. It turns out, the doorman didn’t do a good job and was talking to someone and Traci’s dad slipped in and found his way up to the dressing room. Greg was a bit surprised, but was fine with it. We took our group picture (which looks awesome!) then we gave Greg the candy (gummi worms from Traci and jelly bellys from me, with a chance to win $25, 000. He didn’t believe me, but then saw the little slip inside and was “You’re right. Cool.” But then guess what? He told us that he doesn’t eat jelly beans. They are there for the cast. So, sad but cool that the cast likes them. But he still likes to get them. Makes him popular with the cast. (even though he is the god of webcam. Haha.)

So, we go downstairs and he points out that in a little room right before entering the stage, which has David Yazbak in it. So, we sort of met him too! Then Greg shows us the stage (which, from the stage, the whole theatre looks like my high school auditorium. But Greg did say the theatre was old.) He was talking to us about how some of the set pieces go on stage when he looks across the stage and sees his son. So, not only do we meet Greg but also the whole Jbara family. Zach, Aidan and his wife. And right at the moment, Norbert comes to us but then exits through a door, then reappears a second later and leaves. (He was wearing a red shirt if you wanted to know.) So, Greg gave us the rest of the tour while holding his son Zach. (he also got a kiss from Aidan which was the sweetest thing.)

The back piece of the set had jewels, which, with the right light, looks fantastic! Then, he was about to show us the handcuffs when something happened. Can’t remember what, but something did. So if he was about to explain something interesting about them, we never got to hear it.

Then, miracles of miracles (sorry, Fiddler reference. Song from Fiddler.) WE SAW ANDREW!!!! He came and Zach gave him a high five and Greg introduced us to him. Then, we got a picture of Greg and me and Traci on the stage. Then we followed Greg to the stage door, saying goodbye, and then Traci wanted Greg and Andrew, who was still there, to sign her big, colorful program. Then I remembered, Jamie, that I had to tell Andrew the thing you wanted me to tell him. That he was the best dancing bellboy in the world. And he said, “On the planet. On the planet.” And he remembered you from the webcam. Maybe cause we told him that it was from Jamie on the BWW thread and he said, “ah, yes, Jamie from BWW.” So, there you go!

Then, outside, we got our picture taken with Andrew. So, can’t wait to develop my pictures which should be next week and I’ll put all of them on my profile.

Then we said goodbye to Greg and he told us to keep in touch through email and not to forget. He is such a sweetheart, so down-to-earth.

So, (sorry, I’m saying so a lot. It’s 4 minutes to 2. Leave me alone. I’m doing this for you. And cause I want to see all the comments after it!) we are standing outside the stage door (my dad, the bald one in the picture, me, Traci and her parents.) and after about half hour of talking about I can’t remember what, we decide to take pictures of Greg’s poster. I take a picture and Traci is about to when someone walks right between her and the poster. She gets annoyed that a bald guy walked through her picture and finally decided to answer to me hitting her arm, trying to tell her that the guy who just walked by was David Yazbak, who Greg had pointed out before hand! So, Traci, who thought got a bad picture cause a guy walked through it, actually got a pretty good picture of David’s profile. Nice!

And I think that is about all. I started writing this at about midnight and finished at 2:03 am. And it is literally a few lines under 5 full pages. Hope you enjoyed it! I’m sure Traci will write something too. Can’t wait to get pictures from her and get mine developed. And see the gregcam sometime today. K, night all. Yet, no one is still up. Oh well, great to get this over and done with. And now I am talking to myself while listening to “The Schmuel Song” from L5Y. Great song

~Dre~

did not think it would take it all, but it did. See you tomorrow!!

Dre, you underestimate us night people and how late we stay up.

Glad to hear you had such a great day, though I wouldn't have expected anything less! Yeah, I think the stage door guy is different for the matinees b/c Kevin wasn't there for us either.

I mentioned this before, but yeah, we didn't get alone time in the dressing room. GFU/ Gregory Jbara Love Thread!!/ Wed.&Sat. GregCam And didn't see/hear anything about a guestbook, guess these things have been expanded lol. I saw I guess it was Traci with the costumes on the cam and that's when I was like I didn't get to play with things...hehe sounds like fun. And aww, thanks so much for noticing and taking a pic of the pencil! I'm glad it was in your spare time so I wouldn't feel like it took up any of Gregtime. And your group pic really did turn out nice.

What's funny is when you're talking about the set pieces and how they move, I know exactly what pieces you're talking about, and well, how they move lol. Aww, and you got to meet the Jbara family! Awesome!

And yaay for Andrew as well, I think more and more between all of us he won't feel like he's "just in the ensemble" anymore.

And yeah it's funny I totally understand forgetting to ask about the floating, that's happened to me both there and lots at softball, where I kept forgetting things I wanted to ask(the flood for example). Also, maybe you were able to do a better job than i was of remembering what you saw and heard and what you remember seeing and looking for because I felt like esp. in terms of what I saw I didn't remember much and so much more I should have remembered to look for or that I'm sure I saw but pay no attention to...and I have no clue if this makes any sense because it's 2:47 and now it is time for bed.

But once again, glad you two had such a great day!

hey, I'm surprised that any of my review and backstage review made any sense. I mean, I spent the whole day in the sitting, then an hour reading the 20 pages of posts I missed, then 5 minutes deciding if I should write the review tonigh or leave it for later (but I love you guys and I knew you were waiting) then two hours writing.
