NPG: Aww, I love the pic of JLY you posted!
My hockey team is the Carolina Hurricanes (woo, 2006 Stanley Cup!) It was a good June. Jersey Boys wins the Tony and then a week later, they hoisted the trophy.
Hi eveharrington! I can see more of a resemblance in the pic you posted, with that pensive look. :)

awww. thanks. that picture was from the performance after the tonys. I cropped me out of it, because I take away from the beauty that is JLY haha.
I'm a Flyers girl til I die, but I was excited the Canes won this year because I LOVE me some Rod Brind'Amour!
Have you guys heard these? I found them a long time ago but never posted them, they are a few sound clips from when Johnwas in Sarah, Plain and Tall, John sings in Lady of the House and Don’t Miss the Sea, he maybe in more I just cant remember.

Yay! The Flyers are a sort of second favorite team for me, too. I watched them more when Sami Kapanen got traded to the Flyers. Rod is an awesome role model. Would you mind if I PMed or emailed you, during the hockey season? :)
Back on topic: Kathryn, thank you so much for posting the link. I've never heard any of John's singing from Sarah....hearing the excerpts makes me want to hear more of both songs. And seeing the pics of the production are great, too.
Feel free to PM during the hockey season. I love talking hockey, and I can't really do it with my boyfriend, because he is a diehard hockey fan, but he is also a Devils fan and that just is unacceptable. HAHA.
Kathryn...I heard that CD a while ago, John had told my friend about it so she went out and bought it. You should have seen his face when she came back with it for him to sign...lol. Thanks for posting though!!
I only see a little resemblance to the football player!
I'm at school now, but am dying to hear some of that CD! I will definitely listen when I get home. I would love to hear John sing something other than Four Seasons tunes - I was so excited that he was going to perform at Rockers on Broadway, and then he wasn't there!
Anyone know if he was back in yesterday or is in today? I hope he's feeling better, or that he decided he needed to take a week off.
I read somewhere (it may have even been on this thread) that John was going to be out Tuesday through Thursday this week...

Is there any official word on what is actually wrong with him?
I really hope he get's better soon. Poor guy must need a serious break.
John, if you are reading this...I know a lovely little cottage in the English countryside where you can relax to your hearts content....! Log fires...country walks....fine wine......scrabble...(!) *sigh*

In fact, it's hard to think of anyone whom JLY resembles that strongly, in terms of look alikes.
I think that in some photos he looks like a younger version of Michael Knight who plays Tadd Martin on All My Children. Especially in that profile photo of him singing "You're Just Too Good to Be True."
It's something about the eyebrows slant and the prominent nose.
John is very cute, but not a pretty boy. I like that.

Yay, I got back stuff from John today!
He sent me a signed headshot (as I requested) and a cool card with a sweet note inside. I'm very excited about this!
That's cool gav! My mom sent out my letter to him today.

Oh, and here's the note, just in case you were wondering what it said...

Aw, that is sweet.
NPG: Ew, the NJ Devils? I'm totally with you on the "unacceptable" part. Haha, I think they hate the Canes now. I love the rivalry.
Elle, I'm with you on being excited to hear John singing something other than The Four Seasons'songs. I really liked those "Sarah" clips a lot and wish they were longer. I love his voice.
I didn't know he was supposed to be at Rockers on Broadway, too! That would have been awesome.

So do I. And it's funny: Michael Longoria is JLY's understudy for Frankie, but he never crossed my mind as anyone who resembled JLY. Michael, especially in that picture with Meryl, came across for me, personally, as more of a younger brother type. :)

My thoughts exactly. :)
gav: Honestly, that is one of the sweetest notes I've ever read.
JLY is an awesome person (as we know). And I read on the NLB thread that you're seeing DRS soon too? I'd say, life is sweet! :)
Wendy, you get my vote for the funniest post! By the way, very cool that you're representing JB love on the West End Board. I hope JLY makes it to London someday.
As for John's illness, he's been battling this for awhile now, unfortunately. Hopefully he's recovering, though!
An apology to the fans at JERSEY BOYS, yesterday afternoon. I decided I needed to leave the show mid-act, because my falsetto was not working properly. The week prior, I had fought a sinus infection with antibiotics. Antibiotics kill beneficial bacteria in the system and so can cause candida (not the play by G.B. Shaw, not our neighbor to the north: look it up, it's gross), and so there was buildup on my vocal chords and my voice doctor now has me getting rid of that. Great news is that there is not physical damage to my voice, it's just... well, candida getting in the way. Blame Candida!
I had a sinus infection once coming back from a vacation and it lasted over a month. So I can only imagine what that was like for him, and then this candida to top it off.

Oh, yes. Life is pretty sweet. But tomorrow is my first day of school, so it's...semi-sweet.

I was sick with a really bad cold for a month last year, it started the week before Thanksgiving and ended the week before Christmas and in that time I had a concert which I had a hard time singing the high notes. I just drank a lot of tea during that time which helped a bit.
Hopfully John will feel much better soon.

After seeing the original movie Sunset Blvd tonight on TCM, I was reminded of the upcoming movie version of Sunset Blvd the musical that will star Glen Close.
Some people have speculated that the plumb role of Joe Gillis might be played by either Ewan McGregor or Hugh Jackman.
Ewan recently starred in Guys and Dolls in London's West End , so he obviously can sing. But he just doesn't seem right for Joe Gillis. His history of playing characters who are sexually adventurous, makes it hard to believe him as a character who would be ashamed of being a kept man.
Hugh Jackman played the role to great acclaim on stage in Oz, but I don't think he looks young enough. Part of what attracts Nora Desmond to Joe is that his relative youth makes her feel young again. And while Hugh doesn't look old, he looks so close to Glen's age ( even if he isn't), that much of her cradle-robbing desperation is taken out of the equation. That weakens the drama.
That's why I think JLY would be perfect as Joe. He looks young enough to be Glen Close's son, which fits the story. And Glen knows what a talented actor/singer he is because she saw him in JB.
Nope, John doesn't have a movie "name." But everyone has to start somewhere. And maybe by the time the movie starts shooting next year, he'll be better known.

Tennessee - I saw Ewan McGregor play Sky Masterson in Guys & Dolls a couple of times and he was incredible (btw - Patrick Swayze has not been as good as I hoped - but still got amazing stage presence) I know exactly what you mean though about Ewan being believable as a 'kept man' as he is a raunchy little Devil...but he does also have a vulnerable side to him, plus he is totally baby-faced!
Judy - I have been trying to do my bit on the West End board - but it's kinda falling on deaf ears at the mo (or blind eyes as a friend always puts it!). Frustrating thing is, after JB arrives here - I know it's going to be ALL they'll be talking about!! The best chance it will have will be with John in it...I just hope that is the case. I've even written to Cameron Macintosh pleading with him! Maybe I should get a petition? Now there's a thought.....

JLY seems to have reputation as a good employee, so I can't see the producers's NOT wanting him to appear in the West in production.
But I get the feeling that John's agreement to appear in the London production, depends on the quality of other offers he receives. If he gets offered a juicy role in a TV series, a movie or even another stage production, I could understand why he'd turn down the London show.
Most actors can only dream of having the luxury of so many fabulous offers that they have to turn down some great gigs.
Gav glad to hear that you got a letter back from John!
I just am got a letter back from him tuseday.
I have set up Christian fan site and I have set one up for John if you want to check them out here are the links,

Hi Lori and Person of Interest, *waves*
Hey guys. Just curious if someone can tell me, is the original cast slated to still be intact through the holidays? This could be a totally dumb question but I figured I'd go right to the best source for jB info, you guys! Someone pvt msg me and let me know please!
This is not a dumb question. :) As far as I know, their contracts are up soon; JLY's on October 1 (though his site says Oct 6). But there's no official word yet on who is/is not extending.
Oh, the suspense...
