The law also potentially messes up common law marriages and any legal alliance (and subsequent benefits) that isn't a legally binding marriage.
Ohio's Governor and two senators, all Republicans, were against it.
But voters here are so damn stupid they didn't bother to, oh I don't know, READ THE DAMN THING.

So, far all states reporting have passed their ban.
BIGOTS
Oklahoma, Mississippi, Kentucky, Georgia, Arkansas in addition to.

Posted: 11/2/04 at 9:02pmhmmmm, that doesn't bode well. if the bans are passing that would point to more bushies being out there. that could be important in michigan later, don't they have one up there on the ballot?

What I find most fascinating is that the people who vote against it, vote based on the fact that is against Christian beliefs, yes? I always thought the main points of so many religions, Christianity, Judaism, and probably others (I'm not so familiar with all of them) was to love thy neighbor...
Why are people so illogical?
#42re: ohio passes gay marriage ban
Posted: 11/2/04 at 10:24pmBecause religion gives people permission to be cruel, to hate and to feel superior.
#43re: ohio passes gay marriage ban
Posted: 11/2/04 at 10:27pmyou may add Utah, Montana, and North Dakota to the list of states with a majority of BIGOTS.

Well said, Matt. Even though I am somewhat religious, I agree, because so many people interpret things incorrectly. That's what happens when you translate from one language to the next, and make assumptions.

Oh hush, Matt_G.
Please, for your own sake, get the professional help you so clearly need. And yes, bigotry is a demon we must strive to banish, but I fear it is an uphill battle.

Posted: 11/2/04 at 10:43pmI hate to point out the obvious, but with the VERY slim possibility of Oregon holding out, anti-gay marriage legislation is going to pass in all 11 states in which it's being voted on.
