Posted: 11/2/04 at 11:10pmI honestly believe the whole gay marriage thing is why Missouri went for Bush. Sometimes I'm embarrassed for mankind. I mean hell, lets throw all of our progress away. I think we should crucify homosexuals, and by all means lets get the african americans back into slavery. Send those Irish back to while we're at it.

I hear a shtetl calling my name...
If you want to go way back, I think we need to start stoning people again. It's the only way they'll learn.

We also need to start hanging people. I just remembered that.
Well, I'm off to put on a dress, heels and pearls. I need to vacuum the den.

All I have to say is that it's a good thing I don't physically live in Montana anymore, though that is where I vote.
This is crap. It's making me severely upset and I can't handle it. Why do we need to state formally in our constitution ANYTHING about marriage?
As a Christian, I can't comprehend the use of my religion, which means a great deal to me, to persecute anyone based on anything, especially sexuality. Jesus does teach us love above all else. He included the persecuted when no one else did. I just don't understand. Why would Jesus love me more than someone who leans the other way? It makes NO sense.
I do need to state, for the record however, that not all the people who live in Montana are bigots. And not all Christians are either. (Not that any of you were saying this, but just had to share.)

Posted: 11/2/04 at 11:59pmMissouri was the first state to pass it. A few months ago. It's embarrasing really for those of us who are from there. Though I'm in NYC now ... thank god!

That one quote may be responsible for how I survive this whole debacle. Thank you, my dear

Yes, Michigan's state constitution has been amended to provide that "the union of one man and one woman in marriage shall be the only agreement recognized as a marriage or similar union for any purpose."
I can't believe that my state did this.
They got my absentee ballot, right?
Shouldn't my vote count for more than the votes of stupid people?

Considering that Ohio passed this "amendment," I assume that means the state will go to Bush if it hasn't already, right?
G*ddamn it.

DGrant,
It's a way of life! I'm going to go dig up the matching pearl earrings. Which I actually own, too.
Now, if you'll excuse me, I have some politicians to bake.

DGrant - That is true, actually, now that I think about it.
While I poke fun at the 50's, being that it is extremely old-fashioned, and terribly oppressive for women, it does have it's positives.
These days, I've been thinking about my own personal future -- will I become June Cleaver, a mother/homemaker, because I feel it is important to be in my children's lives (FUTURE children, FYI), or to pursue a career that gives me fulfillment?
Such a fine fine line between a neglectful mother and hausfrau.
Is it me, or do men have it easy in this respect?
And do you actually walk in heels? Because seriously, I have the pearls, and the vacuum cleaner, and I'm sure I have a dress. Hell, I have the heels too!

Posted: 11/3/04 at 1:44amSadly my state passed it too. But it's Kentucky, so what do you expect. I was sort of on CNN because of it. They were counting the votes in Kentucky for support of gay marriage and it was like 2,351, so my one vote made it that number. It's a low number, but I still like the fact my vote counted it like that, even though it didn't do any good.
