hahah that is a good one. It really does help if right before you walk up to audition, you take a deep breath.
Word homie. haha

I went to the opening for the Katherine Hepburn Center at Bryn Mawr college a few weeks ago, went up to Blythe Danner and asked her what her advice to a young actress was. She said (I won't quote because at the moment i was too excited to remember it word for word) if you love it, then do it but if you like it, don't even try.
also, "notes go up, voice goes up. notes go down, voice goes down."- my voice teacher
and the light
moving on.

Actually, one of my first voice teachers told me the opposite--think down for your high notes so you aren't "reaching," and up for your low notes so you aren't letting them get caught in your throat.
But anyway, I recently got told something by one of my acting teachers at school that REALLY clicked for me: You don't have to tell the audience what to think.

One more about life than theatre.

I figured if I'm going to be unhappy anyway, I might as well be an unhappy actress.(or something like that!!)
Love this because I've always thought that I could never work in a 9to5 office job because the monotony would make me miserable but then again a career in the arts is very fickle. So, this quote just sums it up for me. And my folks bought it too!!

I'm not quite positive where this came from, but I've found it incredibly inspiring:
