Oprah being boycotted by Republican Women's Group

Posted: 9/7/08 at 2:09pmAs if Governor Wolf Killer would agree to appear! She's being whisked away from her selected 'events' in a smoked glass SUV, with heavy security. No questions! One theory emerged Friday -- that she'd do Ellen. Ha! Can you imagine how she'd handle even the softball questions? And Ellen took on McMean re gay marriage and he sidestepped. Does anyone think this woman would? I think she'd be a disaster on ELLEN, and clearly so do the strategists now formig a circle around her to keep prying reporters out and Palin opinions un-uttered. But this will backfire, because the longer we wait for her to open her mouth, the more investment in what she says. On the Sunday Matthews show they speculated that she wouldn't speak before the debate -- can you imagine honestly getting away with that? No interviews of any kind between now and 10/2? Stay tuned.

"Ummm....how can they bash Oprah for failing to put Palin on her show when no one ever ASKED Oprah to put Palin on her show?"
^^^what roquat said.
And as I mentioned in another thread, this is all a part of the GOP effort to paint Palin as the victim, underdog, hockey mom struggling to overcome the status quo, against all odds. With Republicans, it doesn't matter, as Rachel Maddow so eloquently points out, if that's a lie. Is she a pit bull in lipstick? or an oppressed victim?

It would be hysterical to see what happened if Oprah started her show tomorrow with "OK, Sarah, I wnat you on my show TOMORROW! See you in Chicago at 9 AM, Hon!"
She'd pee herself till dehydrated.

Posted: 10/2/08 at 3:49amI hope The View is boycotted too. It's weird that Oprah is backing Obama when she knows that he had the chance to be the guy for "change" in Chicago when all of the government rip offs were coming to light and he chose to support those politicians instead of supporting the democrats who were trying to make real changes that would help that community and stop the financial rip offs. It's really sad that people only seem to be jumping on the band wagon with celebrities who think Obama is "sexy" (The View) instead researching to find out what Obama or Palain has really done in their political career to "change" the government.

"in Chicago when all of the government rip offs were coming to light"
Government rip offs have been "coming to light" in Chicago since before Oprah was born.

Posted: 10/2/08 at 10:37amIt was true when Alderman Paddy Bauler said it 1955 and it's still true today: "Chicago ain't ready for reform!"

Posted: 10/2/08 at 2:13pm"The View" did get a call from some nasal, whiny woman who vowed to stop watching it "until the election and probably after" because she was sick of "Whoopi and Joy and that older lady" bashing Elisabeth and "the Republicans." Listening to this drivel made such "bashing" completely justified, IMO, and made me more depressed than ever about the level of ignorance in this country.

Posted: 10/2/08 at 2:19pmIt' weird, but somehow I have never managed to watch a single episode of Oprah. And it's not by some conscious choice or boycott. I simply never think to do so. There really is nothing about her or her show that interests me. I watched Rosie and Ellen and The View because I was fond of ellen and Rosie and their style of comedy. But there is nothing about Oprah that I find compelling in the least except her performance in The Color Purple.
