Ellen Burstyn being snubbed for Roberts is the Boo Boo.

I personally think awarding Roberts any year is a boo boo, but then again I think she is a horrible actress, just my opinion.

Berry; I just didn't see it as her year personally and her acceptance speech killed it for me as well.

Oh and back to Elphaba364758687979785854, not to get too far off topic, but is a rap group like The Roots sad and pathetic excuse for musicians? Especially when they write all songs and songs are performed with them playing instruments? Doesn't most song rhyme? To blanket the entire genre based on sh!t acts that saturate BET is uniformed and, excuse me, stupid.

That's like saying all country is pathetic because of some of the garbage on CMT. Choose your words a little more carefully next time.

I think Burstyn and Huffman gave two of the best performances in the past decade. The best person doesn't always win. But I haven't felt that any performance was undeserving I don't think. Except maybe Michael Caine for Cider House Rules. I think he's a great actor, but not in that film.

Helen Hunt was near brilliant in AS GOOD AS IT GETS, but part of me (in retrospect, I suppose) feels that Kate Winslet's TITANIC performance should have won. She was WONDERFUL.

I liked Winslet, but I would have liked to see Pam Grier nominated in her place.

Gwyneth Paltrow won because it was a pretty weak year for leading actresses.

You think so? You had Blanchett, Watson, Montenegro, and Streep. All terrific.

Julia Roberts WAS outstanding in ERIN BROKVICH - and it was surely her best work up to that point. However, Ellen Burstyn's performance is on an entirely different level than the rest. It's a no-brainer.

Totally agree.

Hillary Swank? Sure, maybe Bening was the favorite both years - but her performance in BOYS DON'T CRY is drop dead brilliant. Her performance in MILLION DOLLAR BABY was also sheer brilliance. My favorite that year was also Kate Winslet, but I can surely see why Swank won, and I don't think it's unjustifiable.

Agree 100%.
