Leo DiCaprio
Gwyneth Paltrow (UGH!)
Jamie Foxx
Tom Cruise
Brad Pitt..come on now
Leo DiCaprio (even though Romeo and Juliet was GOOD)
what did Nicole Kidman win the Oscar for?
Kidman won for The Hours.
Kidman somehow managed to score the Leading Actress nomination over Streep (and Moore) with pretty much the exact same screen time...and then beat Moore, who gave a vastly superior performance in "Far From Heaven."

Okay, with the big giant caveat that maybe I just haven't seen them at their best...
Denzel Washington
Brad Pitt (I thought he was perfect for Achilles. Silly me.)
Hilary Swank
Colin Farrell
Ewan McGregor
And I would say Orlando Bloom, but how many people over the age of 13 actually think he can act?
ugh. hate Stiles!! blea! all her characters are more or less tha same!

THANK YOU!!! I think Kidman's amazing, though. I'm surprised a lot of people don't like her.
I think Nicole is amazing too. She destroyed me in The Hours. She's also wonderful in Dogville. She invests herself so much in what she does.
Love4-
I know exactly what you mean. She, more often than not, does really difficult roles ("The Others", "Eyes Wide Shut", "Dogville", "Moulin Rouge", "To Die For", etc.), and she's terrific each time. Look at her in those movies I just mentioned; it's as if it's not even the same actress.

Kidman's best role and what she should have won the Oscar for was "To Die For"
People don't like her because she's cold. She doesn't make herself accessible on screen or off. You never feel for her or the character she creates, because there never seems to be a personality. She always plays devastated.
Even her Oscar acceptance speech was emotionless.
There was a quote in New York magazine a few months ago about Kidman:
"If anything, the stringent discipline of Kidman’s ascent has been both laudable and off-putting, and even harrowing to watch. Greek goddesses lived and breathed in the imagination, but existed in the world as statues, idealized but cold. Kidman may yet rise to the status of full-blooded legend. So far, though, she’s been simply statuesque."
And I think people like Julia Roberts, though not the greatest actress, get by and become movie stars because there's something about them we can relate to, a spunkiness, an intelligence that what she does for a living and what she gets paid is insane, but it's fun and it's a job. Kidman just never even makes it look fun, Bewitched should be interesting

Oh, I agree. I will take Roberts over Kidman any day (neither great actresses or destined to go down as anything more than fluke winners along with Halle Berry, I think) precisely because there's a charisma and charm that Roberts has and which comes through in her onscreen performances and Kidman sorely lacks that.
I have to disagree about her being inaccessible. I always feel what her characters are going through, even if her characters are not particularly good people.
In "Moulin Rouge", she gave Satine a warmth I had never seen from her before. And even in "The Others", there were times that you could see the love (and fear) that she had for her children.

I think Roberts will go down in history as Hepburn-esque.
A combination of both Audrey and Katharine.
Her interviews are a riot and she is direct in her answers (and a master in not answering). She doesn't seem to be ashamed of anything and comes through scandal beautifully.
And for the most part, her film choices of late have been "safe", even Closer, you never hate her character.
And with films like "Notting Hill" and "America's Sweethearts" you get to view what her life must be like, or at least what she lets us think it is.
Al Pacino, I forgot about him. Completely overrated.
Re: not sympathizing with Nicole's characters. I totally disagree.
I physically felt suffocated during V Woolf's monologue athte train station in The Hours.
Re: Julia Roberts- her limits as an actress are glaringly obvious in Closer. Out of her league.
I think Natalie Portman is overrated.
She didn't need to be on inside the actor's studio, but neither did J. Lo, who is also overrated.
Tom Cruise Tome Cruise Tom Cruise
That J-Lo was on Inside the Actors Studio is the biggest JOKE.
What kind of process could she possibly have????

JLo was great in "Out of Sight" and "Selena"
She was also the first Latina on "Actor's Studio"
"Who ever thought Julia Styles was a good actress?"
I do.
Spooky, I agree with you. While J. Lo has chosen really bad projects, she was still good in "Selena", "Out of Sight", and "Angel Eyes".
Ok I've been holding off cause I figured I'd stay away from the flames as long as possible but here it goes
Julia Roberts (number one with a bullet)
Halle Berry(sp)
Nicole Kidman
Renee Zelwigger
Natilie Portman, even though I love her
Jamie Foxx
Clint Eastwood
Russel Crowe
j-lo
Leo DiCaprio
Ashton Kutcher
There are a ton more. An underrated list should be next

Orlando Bloom. I can only torelate so much of his "acting." (And to believe I actually still like "Pirates of the Caribbean")
And Jack Black...c'mon. He's only funny to a certain extent. I liked him in High Fidelity, but sitting through School of Rock, I cringed a few times.

Definitely Julia Roberts and Leonardo DiCaprio.
Also Dame Judi Dench. I like her. But I just don't think she as great as some people say she is. It seem like she plays the same role over and over to me.

I thought Jack Black was awesome in "School of Rock". Watching him, and the movie, was a blast.
