For some reason I am not able to view last week's thread, so I'll start another one.
Again I am astounded by the talent of these designers!! There were very few I DIDN'T like. Maybe 2 or 3...
This is gonna be a TOUGH season! There are no front-runners yet...

Those potato sack dresses were pretty amazing. Very talented group.
Ping's creation was hysterical. It seems she thought the dress was going to be displayed at a potato sack industry event??
Regardless, the peek a boo derriere was just bad planning.
Very amusing, glad she gets to stick around.
So glad Michael Kors is back.

Posted: 1/22/10 at 9:06amI'm excited for this season. They seem to be a very talented crop of folks.

I'm very glad that they have such a talented group this time, especially since last season was pretty much a bust. Personality-wise, they're kind of boring, but at least they're doing good work.
Though I'm surprised how Jesus has managed to avoid getting auffed these past two weeks. I really thought he'd be gone when I saw his sack dress- or rather, the ribbons covering the entire dress.

Posted: 1/24/10 at 7:29pmPing's crying is starting to wear on my nerves. And her dress was such a disaster - how did she survive this week?

Anyone else thing Mila resembles Lisa Garza from Next Food Network Star (a few seasons ago)? At first I thought it was Lisa, and that she had parlayed her "haute couture" aprons into fashion design...they both have that same, intense hard-core crazy personality.

I like Ping, though she does seem rather emotionally unstable. But that potato sack dress of hers was awful. I think she was only saved this week for her rather unconventional qualities.
Models of the Runway is sort of interesting, but the "competition" of the models isn't really much of anything other than "Pick me!". I did think it was ridiculous that a group of the girls just sat in a booth during an industry meet-and-greet with magazine editors. Yeah, being antisocial with potential clients really shows off your professionalism and experience. Idiots.

So true.
On a side note, that Lisa Garza girl from the Next Food Network Star is a skank. Never liked her. Then again, I hardly liked any of the contestants on that show.

I know she had to go, but even Tim can't imagine the workroom without her...

I had that book when I was little!
I agree, I think it was the right decision for Ping to go this week. She wasn't really improving her work at all. Oddly, I did like that yellow and black dress that the judges hated.

I liked the yellow and black dress too.
Ping was a mess, had to go. Now there's no drama at all!

Posted: 1/29/10 at 10:43amPing had no dress making skills at all, and her departure was inevitable. Anthony's taste may be the next target. I thought the black tailored inexpensive dress was one of the best designs on Runway ever.

The second I heard that Ping partner was giving her sewing lessons, I thought, "How in the world did she ever get on this show?!"
Bye, Ping!

Posted: 1/29/10 at 1:22pmThat kind of reminds me of that guy a few seasons ago who was using pattern books. I knew he was done for the second they found out about it.

Yay, yay Ping is gone!!
The models from last season, from watching Models of the Runway, were much more likable. These chicks are so bland and boring!

Posted: 1/29/10 at 3:36pmEver since last season, I never understood the point of the show about the models. Actually, I wondered how they got chosen, and then practically had to do nothing to win. I think that's why it isn't as interesting a show.

I'm glad the models have their own show. The selection process is no longer featured on the main show, and since I have no interest in following their inane drama, that's great.
I have some Daniel Franco (remember him?) stuff I bought back in the day...including a Barbie Doll with a dress he designed and some of his sketches... I also have the special-edition Project Runway commercial Barbie designed by Nick... I wonder if I should sell this stuff... I'm kicking myself for wasting money on it.

Posted: 2/1/10 at 11:57amOh, Ping. I can't help but feel that if she showed a little more ingenuity and versatility in the dress she made, she would have stayed. I noticed the drapey train thing was attached with buttons in the back. If she could have attached the other end in a similar fashion with buttons on the side, back and/or shoulder so the drape could be removed and reattached in various ways or removed entirely and used as a wrap or shawl and the dress as a standalone piece, it could have been much more impressive. But she couldn't hide her lack of sewing skills for much longer.
