"LAHORE, Pakistan (Reuters) - Pakistan's Supreme Court has ordered a pop singer to change his lyrics after a college girl complained that male students teased her by singing the song when she passed by, a court official said on Tuesday.
The court summoned the singer, Abrar-ul-Haq, last week after a girl called Parveen wrote to a newspaper saying she had stopped attending college in the eastern city of Lahore because of the harassment.
"The court has asked Abrar-ul-Haq to omit the name of the girl and some other objectionable words in his lyrics," the court official said."
Wait-- she lives in LAHORE and they tease her for being named PARVEEN?

What do you think Parveen means?

"La Whore" I'm certain!
It does point up a cultural difference- Tommy Tutone put a girls PHONE NUMBER in a song and got off scot-free. This guy has to rerecord because someone with the same name complained!

This ruling makes 0% sense. Even if the guy changes the lyrics, that doesn't guarantee that the people teasing her will instead sing these new lyrics. Why doesn't the girl go talk to the guys that were teasing her rather than the singer? Duh...
But if he changes the name, it's going to be someone ELSE'S name! Don't you see where this is leading, people?

Tommy Tutone was just on VH-1 performing his new single "011-91-80-867-5309 (Parveen)."

No one ever wrote a song for me.
How about "I've got some red roses for a bluuuuue lady"? That's close.

Kipling wrote a book with my name as the title, but IT WAS ABOUT A BOY. I'm suing his estate, the insensitive bastard.

My first name IS the title of a movie, though.

Yahoo has updated the story- he's rereleasing the song with the name "Parveen" removed. Now the lyric will go "I really want to hit that, Rathnait62."
No one could possibly object to that.
