Pan Am

Posted: 1/25/12 at 10:51pmInternational sales apparently really don't get the *network* much money which is why it's next to never happened that a show keeps going due to international success (Hell the eternally low rated ABC daytime soap Loving was massive in France and especially South Africa as well as other parts of the world...)

Posted: 1/26/12 at 8:14pmI love this show! But with GCB taking the time slot in March, I'm not sure of many episodes will be airing. I really hope it gets a second season with a new time slot. Maybe with Housewives leaving they can move it up to 9pm in the fall?

Mike Vogel,a regular on PAN AM has signed on for a new ABC drama. As much as I hate to see it happen, it looks like PAN AM is done. If the show does somehow come back for a second season, will his part be written off or will he just have less screen time? I'm sure he has to know more than the public regarding the fate of PAN AM. Why else would he look for work when no definite decision had been made yet?

The episode that airs tomorrow night, "Romance Languages", was filmed the second week of October, and they decided to change some things and air it way later in the season... I had a small featured role in it as an Italian Pan Am Official in a scene on the plane. I don't know if the scene will still be in the episode (as you can imagine, changing the order from episode 6 to episode 13 means that they probably had to reshoot a lot to make everything make sense in the current timeline)... but if you happen to be watching Pan Am, and you see someone who looks like me, it is.
I also wore a nun costume in a couple of scenes as an extra, but I don't think my face is visible in any of those.

^^^That's amazing!!!
All caught up on Pan Am and ready for tonight's season finale! Ahh, I hope it doesn't get cancelled because I love this show! But, I blame no one but the writers. They didn't get it right till the 3rd episode, and that's not how things are done.

That was a good ending!! I really hope Pan Am comes back for a 2nd season! It's so good! If it doesn't, I blame the writers for not making it exciting till episode 3.
If it was the series finale, I'll miss the cinematography, costumes, production design, music, characters, plotlines, etc.
Who knows? Impossible things happen everyday. It might come back.

I've been holding off watching the season finale until I really needed it.
I'm sick in bed now, so today was the right day to break it out and cheer me up.
Loved it. Lots of twists and turns. And it simultaneously wrapped up some story lines (in case this is the end) and opened some new ones (in case it gets a second season after all). Well played, Pan Am. I hope to see you again in the fall.

Posted: 3/11/12 at 6:38pmThey really should announce soon, shouldn't they? I know they have until May but if the network has made its decision then why wait? Didn't I hear one of the series regulars has already been set to star in another new series? Something tells me the cast probably knows for certain. I hope it comes back for another season as well.

Posted: 5/5/12 at 3:39pmSo, there is speculation on the TV Guide forums that Pan Am is indeed canceled. However, until I see an official statement released by ABC,I will still hold out some hope.Deadline Hollywood has been pretty good at reporting what gets canceled and what gets renewed. So far nothing.

Posted: 5/6/12 at 12:43pmThat's too bad. I really loved this show. I wish they'd given it a better time slot. I don't know about everyone else, but Sunday night is the one night a week when I make a conscious effort to go to bed early. I loved the show, but I usually watched it the next day on ABC.com.

I also think, despite a stylish pilot, it kinda took too long for an expensive network show to find its footing and strengths. Other shows have taken a while and went on to become hits, but in the current network tv environment, and at the reported cost of the show, I guess it didn't have that luxury. I know GCB doesn't stand a big chance of renewal either, but how were its ratings in the same timeslot in comparison, does anyone know?
I admit I liked the cast and was really growing into the show, but even by the end I felt something was missing--but that there was still potential to find it.

Posted: 5/10/12 at 11:08amGCB is also a comedy that was introduced post-Sunday Night Football season. It's in a far better position to gain momentum than a mild nighttime soap airing at 10pm following Desperate Housewives. That was sheer stupidity.

Posted: 5/10/12 at 12:17pmAgreed. If ABC had given Pan Am and Revenge the opposite time slots...

Pan Am just won an award in Europe. If only it were recognized positively here. *sigh*
