Dottie - You have GOT to go! Go early in the morning - he'll be outside, playing with his mom. You don't need any tickets for that. I didn't get to the zoo until 10:00 this morning and by then he had pooped himself out. He had gotten up in a tree, where he fell asleep and stayed asleep the whole time I was there. Mai took advantage of this rest time to play, take her own nap, and get a bamboo lunch in. Dad was in the enclosure next door. Sadly the panda reality is that they'll probably never see each other. Mai and Tian were best buddies and played together all the time - UNTIL she got preggers with Tai. Now all she wants is to be his mama. This is very normal behavior but I really do miss watching the two of them play together.

Now that Tian has established his studliness, he'll probably get to visit other zoos where he can have his naughty way with the local enhabitants. I'm sure that beautiful baby pandas will be showing up all over!

Dottie, he usually is playing with his mom and rolling around and being adorable around 8am. Around 9:30 he is up in a tree or on a rock asleep.

He's running around and being cute right now.

Thanks. It must have been great to be a veterinarian there when they were able to pick him up. I wouldn't want to put him down. He's so adorable. I might have to head on over there one morning before work.

Dottie - don't wait. If we get this big snow they're expecting, go Sunday morning. I was talking to one of the zoo keepers today and we agreed that he's going to have an absolute BLAST playing in the snow! I remember seeing his parents when they were really young and they had so much fun in the snow that I still laugh when I look at my videotape. I'd be there myself if it wasn't such a hike for me!

One more - then I stop. These are a couple I took yesterday. (I told you they weren't good.) I'm just putting them here so you can see what I saw. He had found a nice place to roost in this little tree and he was so comfortable, he just stayed there and slept. He had been there for a long time and they figured he was about ready to go inside anyway, so the zookeeper came out and tried to talk him into getting down. He just looked up, stretched, and then went back to sleep.

Mamie, I never made it there yesterday and was going to go before work this morning (but didn't do that either).

he's sleeping again........all he does, when I look is sleep......
I did notice there is noise, ie you can hear the people watching him there at the zoo

Pandas are just like cats - they cat-nap all day long. This little guy goes outside early in the morning and wrestles and rough houses with his mama for a couple of hours. He completely wears himself out and then he sleeps. You really have to just luck out and catch him between naps!

Apparently we aren't the only ones tired of little Tai being up a tree all day. About 20 minutes ago he climbed up the tree only to have Mei come and harrass him until he climbed back down.
