re: Paramount Hotel or The Milford Plaza?

It really depends, The Milford Plaza is an ok Hotel. My parents have stayed there when they visit New York. It's a great location for Times Square. A friend of mine stayed at the Paramount and his room was the size of a closet with no room to move about. But it is a posher hotel than the Milford.

The Milford is undergoing renovations right now, if I'm not mistaken.

>Did the Milford Plaza used to be "The Macklow Hotel"?<

No, the Macklowe is now the Millenium. Years ago, the Milford Plaza was the Hotel Manhattan. But it's been the Milford Plaza for decades now.

re: Paramount Hotel or The Milford Plaza?

It seems everytime I visit NY the Milford is undergoing renovations.

And the rooms at the Paramount really are tiny. But it's a much cooler hotel IMO.

re: Paramount Hotel or The Milford Plaza?

The big block shaped "M" on top of the hotel goes back to when it was the Manhattan. When the hotel was sold, the buyers had to come with a new name that started with "M" or tear it down -- hence, the Milford.

P.S. I find it interesting that while the main and busiest entrance to the hotel is on 8th Ave., the legal address of the hotel is a barely used side door (on the lesser skuzzier) 45th St.

re: Paramount Hotel or The Milford Plaza?

I've stayed at both. Both hotels have small rooms.

Furnishings are a bit nicer at the Paramount and the lobby is alot nicer, but my biggest complaint is the height of the bed which is basically like a matress on the floor. The best part is that it is attached to Dean and Deluca which is a perfect place for breakfast.

The Milford Hotel is safe and a great location. The staff is nice and helpful. Depending on the room, they are often bigger than the Paramount rooms. If you are staying with a bunch of people, I would stay at the Milford because I saw four people crammed in a Paramount room, and it didn't look fun!
So, that was the Drowsy Chaperone. Oh, I love it so much. I know it's not a perfect show...but it does what a musical is supposed to do. It takes you to another world, and it gives you a little tune to carry with you in your head for when you're feeling blue. Ya know?

HA! That is so true! Every time I have stayed at the Milford, it has been undergoing reservations...since 1988!!

The lobby restrooms at the Milford (on the mezzanine level) are a convenient place if you need to go while in the theater district. They are always clean and roomy.
