Clearly not written by her, especially the last line...

"Today I told my attorneys not to appeal the judge's decision. While I greatly appreciate the Sheriff's concern for my health and welfare, after meeting with doctors I intend to serve my time as ordered by the judge.

This is by far the hardest thing I have ever done. During the past several days, I have had a lot of time to reflect and have already learned a bitter, but important lesson from this experience.

As I have said before, I hope others will learn from my mistake. I have also had time to read the mail from my fans. I very much appreciate all of their good wishes and hope they will keep their letters coming.

I must also say that I was shocked to see all of the attention devoted to the amount of time I would spend in jail for what I had done by the media, public and city officials. I would hope going forward that the public and the media will focus on more important things, like the men and women serving our country in Iraq, Afghanistan and other places around the world."

How patriotic.

The rain we knew is a thing of the past -
deep-delving, dark, deliberate you would say
browsing on spire and bogland; but today
our sky-blue slates are steaming in the sun,
our yachts tinkling and dancing in the bay
like racehorses. We contemplate at last
shining windows, a future forbidden to no one.

I don't know which is more disgusting... our country's media, or the undivided attention we (as a nation) pay to it.

They give us an endless supply of crappy "non-news" items to watch and read, and we soak it up and ask for more.

Who is worse? Them (for reporting it) or us (for reading, watching and listening to it)?

I was actually shocked to watch the coverage last week where the announcement that the head of the Joint Chiefs would be stepping down because he didn't want to face a re-confirmation battle where he would have to discuss Iraq wap policy was cut short to BREATHLESSLY ANNOUNCE PARIS WAS FREE! It was a new low for a media that hasn't had many high points latley.

Right, like poor little Paris hasn't spent her life courting exactly the kind of attention that she's now complaining about getting.

"Right, like poor little Paris hasn't spent her life courting exactly the kind of attention that she's now complaining about getting."

Exactly. Plus, if there were NO cameras trailing her or camped outside the courthouse, she'd be suicidal.

once she's released, she'll be contrite for a few days. Then she'll go back to being Paris, do nothing of any importance and and flash her bare vag again for all the world to see.

'Because she has no gag reflex...

Oh please...she looked like she was trying to figure out how many licks it took to get to the center of a Tootsie Pop.

You call that technique??

Actually, I never saw that film...

What's making me laugh the most is there are TOP news stories here in LA about her. One is an interview with some guy who has written her a letter asking her to be 'the voice' for those who are in jail and in need of mental health care.

WHY would you even air that?! Like, she's REALLY wanting to be know as 'Miss Prison Mental Health Care'.

She actually released a statement asking us to stop paying attention to her? I thought all she wanted was for people to pay attention to her. Is there anyone in Hollywood that doesn't love the camera as much as she does?!

So nothing about Raul, then? Do you think they didn't show the Tonys to the inmates? Wow, jail must be worse than we thought.

Matt,

I heard she was pissing and moaning that Raul didn't win either.

That whole statement is the work of her publicist. I met Ms. Hilton once and she can barely put a sentence together coherently, let alone write a missive like that.

"Paris Hilton tells Barbara Walters acting dumb is no longer cute"

Paris Hilton says she will no longer "act dumb."

The reality TV star and relentless publicity-seeker spoke with Barbara Walters by phone Sunday, a day after releasing a statement saying she hoped the media would focus on "more important things" than her 45-day jail sentence, according to ABC News' Web site.

"I used to act dumb. ... That act is no longer cute," ABC quoted Hilton as saying.

After spending three days in jail in a reckless driving case, Hilton was briefly released to home confinement Thursday for an undisclosed medical condition. An outraged judge sent her back to jail Friday. She is now housed in the medical ward of a maximum-security detention center.

According to ABC News, the call came after Hilton's mother, Kathy, phoned Walters. During the conversation, the 26-year-old socialite called her mom on another line, found out her mother was talking to Walters, and then called Walters collect. All jail inmates are required to call collect.

Hilton has been saying that she is changed by her jailhouse experience, and she repeated that theme with Walters: "Now, I would like to make a difference. ... God has given me this new chance."

You could tell by the look on her face during the MTV Movie Awards when she was the brunt of Sarah Silverman's rather crude and mean spirited comedy routine, that Paris had finally realized she was a laughingstock.
