He was wonderful in TO WONG FOO, PalJoey.
GHOST is one of my favorite movies, his sexual/romantic chemistry with Demi Moore in that movie is fantastic, and his exchanges with Whoopi Goldberg are simply comedy gold.
RIP Mr.Swayze.

A slightly lighter story about Patrick.
He and his family were staying at the lodge in Death Valley in the suite accomodations by the pool. While there, he was bitten by a spider on his butt - and was advised to lay by the pool on his stomach with the bite 'getting some air' while they discussed what to do. Although it probably wasn't necessary, it was decided by certain staff present that the 'poison' should be sucked out like you would a snakebite.
Although I wasn't present, I understand from reliable sources that there was some amount of wrangling for who would get the honors - and I know it was a big ole queen who won.
I can't say that I would have done differently if I had been presented with the situation.
That story positively REEKS of Wishful Thinking meets Porn Fantasy meets Urban Legend...

Except that I was employed at a sister national park at the time, and was actually a friend of the 'victor'. The Bitch.
So sad. He was a brave, talented, kind, giving person.
He fought long and hard...now he can at least rest.
RIP.
This is just such sad news. But Q's story makes me smile.
I suppose his contribution to Whoopi's career is well known, but it's worth mentioning again. The producers of Ghost, for some reason, wanted anyone but Whoopi for the part, though they wanted someone just like her. It was Swayze who went to bat for her, and eventually won the part for her. She has often aknowledged his grace and kindness.
