Last night Cindy Sheehan brought her anti-war "Peace Mom" book tour to Fresno, California.
Outside of Cindy's appearance stood a group of pro-troop supporters, fully decked out in red, white & blue and carrying "Support Our Troops" signs. One of them was Robin Butterfield who lost her son in the war on terrorism.
Sheehan's supporters began to verbally attack the patriotic group, culminating in an outburst by one Sheehan supporter who screamed at the woman that her son died protecting other Marines who, "Kill, rape and sodomize children."
Think I'm making this up? I'm not. You can watch it for yourself here on KMPH TV:

Please help me tell the story of the heroism of Casey Sheehan, Justin Johnson and the men and women of the United States military who are fighting for this nation with honor, dignity and bravery. Pick up a copy of "American Mourning" and share it with a friend, loved one or co-worker who doesn't understand how wonderful our military men and women are:
Thank you.
Watch Cindy Commit Treason Again
Fortunately, some sincere Americans have written a book telling the truth.
Get The Truth out of Iraq
Can't wait to read that one!
The subject reads "re: 'Peace Mom' goes too far: AGAIN!"
According to your post Cindy didn't say, "Kill, rape and sodomize children.", some other woman did. So how did she go to far "again"?

She said that the troops do those things. She is supportive of other people's sons.

All liberals are responsible for all other liberals. In fact, any nutjob who shows up is automatcially a democratic spokesperson.
Of course, one might understand how tensions run high and in the heat of a confrontation, someone might go too far-- Kind of like when Ann Coulter smeared the 9/11 widows or when Rush Limbaugh made fun of Michael J Fox's illness. Seriously, it's a shame we've come to this point where the discourse is so ugly.
Some troops have done those things and on more than one occasion.
ann smeared no one. that represents the worst in liberal talking points.
These hussey's engaged the debate by supporting Kerry, therefore, anyone can challenge the validity of their statements.
They entered the areana, and these "Jersey Girls" are no above reproach.

"Seriously, it's a shame we've come to this point where the discourse is so ugly."
Crocodile tears, no doubt.
Funny, I read a quote this morning where Rush Limabugh ised the exact words, "Fox entered the arena". Lets all make fun Charleton Heston or Ronald Reagan. A have two friends of mine are extreme liberals who cried when watching Reagan's funeral. They felt so bad for poor Nancy. Nothing but compassion. They couldn;t stand Reagan as a president yet they were so sad for him and his widow. Oh, and then you have Coulter and Limbaugh. I am proud to be a bleeding heart liberal. It reminds how different I am from them.
I so wish Nancy Reagan would do a stem cel ad with Michale J.Fox. The two have become friends since trying to get more funding for stem cel research.
You won't find Queen Nancy doing that...way too much class!

No tears, crocodile or other. I know the majoity of folks are quite young on this board so they might not know a time when politcal discourse was spirited but civil. Tip O'Neill comes to mind as a man who could fight hard for his policies but still enjoy warm relationships with his Republican foes. And Clinton- despite everything he kept working relationships with "enemies" like Bob Dole and Newt Gingrinch. I hope once this bunch has moved on we can get back to the idea that you can disagree with someone without smearing them.
And speaking of Smears, I must disagree with your defense of Ms Coulter-- certainly she is welcome to argue with the "Witches of East Brunswick (her name for them)" but does she really need to say that they are "enjoying their husbands' deaths" or call them names? They did indeed "Step into the arena" and I think it would be interesting to hear Ann Coulter talk about what she disagrees with them about. But she never does-- she calls names and smears. She even speculates that many of them were divorce bound before their husbands were killed. She's outraged that 9/11 widows would speak up about politics-- was she outraged about the steady stream of Speakers at the 2004 Republican convention who invoked their losses in the tragedy? If so, she remained silent about her outrage. Maybe she was too busy thumbing her thesaurus in preparation for her Democratic convention coverage: "....the corn-fed, no make-up, natural fiber, no-bra needing, sandal-wearing, hirsute, somewhat fragrant hippie-chick pie wagons they call 'women' at the Democratic National Convention."
I know Ms Coulter lost dear friends in the terrorist attacks and I wonder how she'd respond if someone speculated graphically on the quality of Ted & Barbara Olsen's marriage before she was killed?

Cindy did not say those words Dakin. It was a man attending the event and they were directed at a woman protesting outside the building.
but really... In my opinion (yes. mine. only mine) this war is illegal and immoral and I don't support anyone who is in favor of it. That goes for Bush right down to the soldiers. I support better wages for Americans who serve our country and I want the best health care money can buy for those men and women when they return home. But I feel the honorable thing to do is to refuse to fight in this war.
"You won't find Queen Nancy doing that...way too much class!"
Okay, people. FINALLY--PROOF!
Those are NOT the words of a right-winger. No Republican or conservative--even a gay one--would ever call her Queen Nancy. To do so makes fun of Reagan's exalted status, and it simply. Wouldn't. Happen.
Those are clearly the words of someone pretending to be a right-winger, probably gay, probably left-wing.
The mindless parroting of The Obvious Sources (Rush, Coulter) first made me suspect--it was all a little too easily cribbed from websites, with no nuance or personal passion or point-of-view--but this line is OUT-OF-CHARACTER.
Chanti/Dakin is NOT a real person--just someone with waaaaay too much time on his hands.

"so they might not know a time when politcal discourse was spirited but civil."
Let's call it like it is. The moment that discourse changed in this country was in 2000 when the election went to Bush. Since that moment, everyone on the left has been violently hateful. If you want a change in discourse, then the left has to make the effort to return to civil discourse.
I'm so sorry, Goth! I didn't realize you were in a coma from 1994 through 1999! That must have been terrible for you!

"I didn't realize you were in a coma from 1994 through 1999!"
No coma. You can't deny that liberals upped the vicious talk after the election. It was people like Michael Moore and Cindy Sheehan that made the discourse unbearable.
Fox didn't come on the scene until Oct 1996, and Drudge didn't start his website until 1997 so talk from the Conservative side was very minimal in the late 90s.
And what year was the impeachment?

"And what year was the impeachment?"
Conservatives weren't as nasty with Clinton as liberals are with Bush. Nobody referred to Clinton as Hitler, stupid, monkey, etc.
Nobody died when Clinton got a BJ.
Besides, after the election was handed to Bush whenit wasn't his, you are damn right the liberals got pissed.

"Nobody died when Clinton got a BJ."
Actually that's not true. Clinton was fooling around with Lewinsky from 11/95 - 3/97. During that time:
Muslim extremists exploded a car bomb at U.S. military headquarters in Saudi Arabia, killing five U.S. military servicemen.
Muslim extremists exploded a truck bomb outside the Khobar Towers military complex, killing 19 American servicemen and injuring hundreds.
Muslim extremists exploded truck bombs at U.S. embassies in Kenya and Tanzania, killing 224 and injuring thousands.
Forgive me for putting words in your mouth, theatrediva, but I think you mean to say 'nobody died BECAUSE Clinton got a BJ'...except for those sad little sperm who never did find an egg. Weep for the unborn!
And, Goth, you are so entitled to believe that conservatives weren't nasty with Clinton. You'd be wrong, but I'd fight to the death for you to have the right to believe wrongly.

When did it become politically correct to lie? Or are you just being overly dramatic?
