I'm gonna kick some Fishie ass right now.
a well regarded theatre, film and television actor once stared stared at me as i sat in the front row at an off-broadway show. he stared so long and so intently i began to think, "oh christ what have i done?" after a while he winked, jotted a note in the notebook his character held and began the show with a grin on his face.
i found out later that he began every performance that way and that i'd been set up since i was to start working at the theatre the next week. he made up for it though when he introduced me to uma thurman.
Yeah, the Chicago ensemble is semi-interactive with the first couple rows. (I could swear that I got eye contact from Shaun Amyot!)
At the curtain of Dracula, my friends and I sat in the front row, and we stood up when Kelli O'Hara came out. She looked at us and mouthed the words "Thank You!" I felt so special.
That same night at the stage door, we stopped Shonn Wiley to get his autograph, and he was like, "hey, we're you the people in the front row?" Again, we felt special to be recognized, and he said we were good audience members.
I won Q lotto 2 sundays ago, and Peter Linz and Rick Lyon came out and were like "Hey! We saw you from on stage! I liked your outfit!" lol cause I had a bright orange skirt on to match the orange background of the Q on my shirt.

The cast of NAKED BOYS SINGING always spot me in the audience. They usually make jokes at my expense and try to keep me from joining them on stage.
I'd have to say it was maybe after the 11th or 12th time I went to see the 1987 revival of "DREAMGIRLS" at the Ambassador Theatre. I always got great orchestra seats so I think the cast started noticing me in the audience because I would always get looks from cast members (at first I thought it was just me) but then it was confirmed when during the number "DREAMGIRLS" Alisa Gyse who played "Deena" looked straight at me smiled and winked at me. That's when I knew...
After that I went to the stage door to get autographs close to the end of the show's run and Alisa Gyse, Weyman Thompson, Arnetia Walker and Lilias White all acknowledge my presence at those performances. I got big hugs and thank yous from all of them. I even got to introduce my mother to Alisa and Lilias when I took her to the show.
Marquise, that revival was extra special.
It was special to me on so many levels. That revival will always hold a special place in my heart.

Great thread! Same thing here with Seasons of Love - multiple companies.
Most recently, both Tim Curry made eye contact with me and smiled during the finale of Spamalot.
Also, lots of eye contact from the ensemble from the front row at DRS. John Lithgow even stared right at me during the first few seconds of "Dirty Rotten Number." WAY cool!

During Lion King when I saw it on tour both of the people playing the adult Simba and Nala made eye contact and smiled at me.
During Phantom, Michael Shawn Lewis has constantly looked at me and during curtain call he waved at me, and Patricia Phillips, she was Carlotta, also waved at me. Many other people from phantom since I have seen it over a dozen times.
At La Cage, when I had 4th row, a lot of the cagelles during curtain call smiled and waved. And when I saw Dracula, Tom Hewitt winked at me and waved at me, and Keli O'hara waved.
This used to happen to me all the time. Every show I went to, the star would looking right at me, signaling me. Then I got my meds adjusted.

I'm not positive but I had front row seats to Mamma Mia and the cast especially Carolee Carmello looked at me (I was right next to the conductor) and during lay all your love on me Sara Karmer and the guy playing Sky were right in front fo my face but she kinda was looking at the guy. I mean it wouldn't make sense if she wasnt but I think she looked at me too. Nothing else I can think of at the moment.

One of the Dymamites in HAIRSPRAY winked at me during "Welcome to the 60's". When I saw RIVERDANCE the lead male dancer made eye contact with me a few times and jestured to me. He was HOT to, so I didnt mind at ALL!lol! Hopefully when I come back from my trip next week, I'll have some more.
I saw Evita and Che waved at me!!!, and when I saw a regional show of Gypsy, one of the Newboys waved at me before the show and at curtian call winked at me.

Funny you should mention GYPSY...
I remember seeing Angela Lansbury in GYPSY oh so many years ago. She was just about to go into "Rose's Turn" when she spotted me in the orchestra section. She broke character and introduced me to the audience. They all gave me a rousing ovation. Then she went on with the show.
It was amazing.

Wasn't that on a field trip that you took us to to see her in Gypsy?
I think I made Andy Meeks laugh during Seasons of Love. I was directly in front of him so when he looked at me, I smiled. He smiled back, which kind of startled me, so I laughed. Then he laughed and kind of screwed up his singing, so he had to pause to catch up with his place.

I've only had a couple absolutes over the years, and that would be Raul during the curtain call of the final Taboo, and when Matt McGrath was the Emcee in Cabaret, he sometimes did cute things directed at me. You can get away with it in that role though.
How do they "wave" at you during a performance? That seems like it would break so much character.

I sat front row for the national tour of "The Full Monty". During "Let It Go", the actor playing Ethan kept winking at me during the whole strip. It made me part excited that he would notice me, part veeery uncomfortable... hehe
After Piazza, Sarah Uriarte Berry recognized me from the front row, and Andy Karl did the same after Altar Boyz. During Altar Boyz I got a lot of eye contact and smiles, because that's basically what they are directed to do.
My favorite was when Jeffrey Carlson knew I'd be there, went out of his way to find me in the audience during curtain call, and gave a huge smile and a wave. He's the best.
Well, my only story of this type is one I will remember til the end of my life ! BOY FROM OZ, I am sitting first row on the center section but towards the right ! Towards the very end of the show as soon as Hugh finished "Once Before I go" I was the first to stand up and applaud him. Of course, the rest of the audience followed after a couple of seconds, but he noticed that I started it, so Hugh looked right at me and smiled to me. And at curtain call, he smiled again and winked at me ! I don't think I will ever forget it !

When I look back...when I was going to see FOOL MOON many times, once David Shiner took my bag to back stage (there were a lot of interactive stuffs in this show, for those who don't know the show). When I got it back in the intermission, there was a picture of David and Bill Irwin in the pocket of the bag...and on the back of the pic, with Bill's handwriting, it says "to our hot stalker- we love you!"
Thought that was cute.
When I saw Tom Jones at Northshore music theatre, the actor who played Tom Jones smiled at me. I was sitting in the first or second row.
